An always-on schedule, by itself, is not listed in YouTube’s published rules as a reason Super Chat is unavailable. Check whether your channel is eligible and has Supers enabled, whether the particular livestream meets YouTube’s requirements, where you and your viewers are located, and whether viewers are watching on YouTube rather than an embedded player. The exact cause depends on those channel, stream, location, and viewing details.
1. Check channel eligibility and Supers activation
Super Chat and Super Stickers are part of YouTube’s fan-funding features. According to YouTube Help, the channel must meet the applicable eligibility requirements, including participation in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), the creator being at least 18, being in a location where the feature is available, and complying with the relevant terms. The feature must also be enabled for the channel. See YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility and setup guidance and its YPP eligibility guidance.
- Open YouTube Studio and select Earn.
- Look for the Supers tab or card. If it is absent or says the channel is not eligible, resolve the channel-level requirements or restrictions shown there first.
- Check that you have accepted the applicable Commerce Product Module or, where relevant, legacy Addendum, and that Super Chat and Super Stickers are turned on.
Eligibility and Studio labels can change. Use the status and guidance shown in your own account rather than assuming a channel qualifies because another channel can accept Supers.
2. Check the specific livestream’s restrictions
A channel may be eligible while one particular broadcast is not. YouTube says Super Chat and Super Stickers are unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, or private videos; Made for Kids content; YouTube Giving fundraiser videos; and videos where live chat or comments are turned off. These exclusions apply to the stream, not because it runs continuously. Consult YouTube’s list of Super Chat and Super Stickers restrictions.

- In YouTube Studio, open Content and select the livestream or its scheduled broadcast.
- Review its visibility. For a stream that needs Supers, check whether it is public rather than unlisted or private.
- Review the audience designation and confirm the video is not set as Made for Kids.
- Check whether an age restriction or YouTube Giving fundraiser applies.
- Open the stream’s live chat settings and verify that live chat and comments are enabled.
Changing a setting may not override an independent restriction or make an ineligible channel eligible. If Studio displays a specific limitation, follow that account-level guidance.
3. Ask viewers to use the YouTube watch page
Live chat is available on YouTube watch pages, not in embedded players. If viewers are watching your stream through a website embed, ask them to open the broadcast directly on YouTube and check whether the Super Chat option appears there. YouTube explains this distinction in its live chat help.

4. Check location availability
Availability depends on geography. YouTube publishes a list of locations where creators can use Super Chat and Super Stickers; regional restrictions may also affect viewers’ ability to use monetization features. Compare both the creator’s and affected viewers’ locations with YouTube’s current availability guidance rather than relying on an old list or a viewer’s location alone.
5. Troubleshoot in this order
- Channel: In YouTube Studio → Earn → Supers, check eligibility, any required terms, and whether Supers are enabled.
- Broadcast: Inspect visibility, audience designation, age restriction, fundraiser status, and live chat/comments for the specific stream.
- Viewer surface: Have an affected viewer open the stream on its YouTube watch page instead of an embedded player.
- Geography: Check current creator and viewer availability guidance.
- Account-specific restriction: If those checks do not explain the problem, use the status shown in Studio or contact YouTube Creator Support. Public help pages cannot identify a restriction on a particular channel without access to its account.
Does an always-on livestream affect Super Chat revenue?
YouTube Help’s “Manage YouTube Super Chat & Super Stickers for Live Chat” page, accessed in 2026, says creators receive 70% of confirmed Supers revenue. YouTube calculates that share after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees; it currently covers transaction costs, including credit card fees. This is a payout rule, not an eligibility test, and it does not mean that continuous streaming automatically enables or blocks Supers. See YouTube’s revenue-management details.
