A 24/7 livestream is not a documented reason for a YouTube channel membership to cancel. If your membership status or badge changed while you were watching, the timing alone does not show that the stream caused it. The change may have come from your own cancellation, a channel-side pause or loss of memberships, or the creator removing your membership level. Check your paid memberships page and any YouTube or billing notices to identify what happened.
What can cause a channel membership to end?

YouTube documents channel membership pauses in situations including a channel changing MCNs, being set as Made for Kids, or being unable to monetize. If a channel is still paused when your billing cycle ends, your membership can end automatically. A mobile subscriber may receive a cancellation notice and need to rejoin if the channel later resumes memberships. YouTube explains how to use and manage channel membership benefits, and its membership levels and perks guidance describes what happens when a level is removed.
How to check why your membership changed
- Review your paid memberships. Open YouTube’s paid memberships area and check the membership status and end date. YouTube says a cancellation confirmation appears in the app or on desktop, followed by a confirmation email. The membership hub can show the final day of the billing period. - Look for a YouTube email or notice. Check the account associated with the membership for a cancellation confirmation or channel-side explanation. YouTube says affected viewers are emailed when a channel terminates or loses access to memberships. Its cancellation troubleshooting guidance may help if you cannot complete or verify a cancellation.
- If you subscribed through the iOS YouTube app, check Apple billing. YouTube directs iOS subscribers to Apple for cancellation or refund questions. The relevant details are in Billing and payment info for channel members – iPhone & iPad.
- Ask the creator if memberships appear paused. Ask whether memberships are paused and whether your billing cycle ended before the channel resumed them. The creator may clarify the channel’s status, but your account page and billing notices are the records to use for your own membership.
- Contact YouTube support if the account record does not explain it. Provide the account and transaction details, and include any cancellation email or channel notice.
Why the livestream timing can be misleading
YouTube allows channels to offer membership-related benefits such as members-only live streams or member-only live chat. That can make a missing badge or a change in chat access noticeable while a broadcast is running. But the official membership guidance does not identify continuous playback or a 24/7 stream as a cause of cancellation. Do not infer that the stream, a brief interruption, or watching it triggered the change just because you noticed the status during the broadcast.
What to do if you only lost the badge or perks
First compare the badge or perk change with the membership status and end date shown in your paid memberships area. If the membership is still active, use the account page and any YouTube notices to distinguish a display or access issue from an ended membership; the timing of the stream alone cannot establish the cause. If the account shows the membership ended, follow the cancellation, channel-pause, or channel-notice checks above. For an iOS purchase, check the Apple billing record.
