A missing replay does not necessarily mean YouTube removed your 24/7 lofi livestream. YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so an uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast may never produce a complete archive. Copyright action, a policy restriction, or a changed or deleted archive are other possibilities. Check the stream’s status in YouTube Studio and the email YouTube sent to find out what happened in your case.
First, find out what happened to the replay
In YouTube Studio, open Content and select the Live tab. Find the broadcast and check its visibility, status, and any restriction details. YouTube says archive privacy can be changed there, and an archive can also be deleted there. A replay that is private or deleted is different from one that was never captured or formally removed. YouTube’s archive guidance explains where to manage an archive.
- Check the Live tab: Look for the broadcast and its current visibility or status.
- Open Restrictions: Review any Content ID or other restriction details, including identified material and affected areas.
- Check the channel Dashboard: Look for active copyright strikes or live-stream restrictions.
- Read YouTube’s email: A removal or restriction notice can identify the claimed material and explain the available options.
These account details are necessary to diagnose an individual replay. The fact that the broadcast ran continuously does not, by itself, identify the cause.
Why a 24/7 stream may have no replay
The broadcast exceeded YouTube’s archive window
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours “may not be captured at all.” A 24/7 broadcast is far beyond that threshold. This is a warning, not a guarantee that every stream over 12 hours will fail: it means the missing replay may reflect an archive that was never created, rather than a replay YouTube removed afterward. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. Read YouTube’s archive guidance.

YouTube’s terms describe archiving as an option a creator may be provided, rather than promising that every broadcast will become a replay. After a stream ends, a channel may post a replay or highlights; their availability is not automatic. YouTube Terms of Service and YouTube’s replay and highlights guidance provide more context.
Copyright detection affected the live stream or archive
YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content, including other copyrighted live broadcasts. If it detects a match, it may show a placeholder warning and temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream if the content continues. An archived livestream may also receive a Content ID claim after the broadcast ends. YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams describes these processes.

Having access to a lofi track, or buying a license, does not automatically establish that you have all the rights needed for your particular broadcast. Check that the license covers livestreaming, the relevant territories, and the intended use. YouTube also says a licensed third-party track may still interrupt a livestream unless its rights owner adds your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Licensing and allowlisting are separate checks. YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and its terms explain the need for appropriate rights.
A Content ID claim is not the same as a copyright strike
A Content ID claim can identify or restrict matched material; it is not automatically a formal copyright takedown. A valid copyright removal request is a legal request that removes the video and applies a copyright strike. Check the Studio restriction details and the email before deciding which process applies. YouTube’s copyright removal guidance and copyright strike guidance explain the distinction.

YouTube describes possible ways to resolve a strike, depending on the case, including a retraction, completing Copyright School and waiting for expiry where applicable, or submitting a counter notification. A counter notification is a legal process, not a routine way to clear an ordinary Content ID claim. Use an appeal or counter notification only if you have a good-faith basis and understand the process.
Another policy or live-stream restriction applied
Live access or a broadcast can be restricted for reasons beyond music claims. YouTube lists possibilities including a Community Guidelines strike, a livestream taken down under its policies, a match to another copyrighted live broadcast, or specified age or content restrictions. Check the actual notice and Studio status instead of inferring the cause from the stream’s duration. YouTube’s live-stream restriction guidance and copyright troubleshooting cover relevant cases.

What to do if YouTube identifies copyrighted music
- Open the claim details in Studio. Note the track or other material identified, claimant, affected timestamps, and territories.
- Check your rights. Confirm that the license covers the use, territories, and livestreaming—not just listening, downloading, or use in another format.
- Ask about allowlisting when appropriate. If you have a license, contact the rights owner about adding your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license alone may not prevent a live interruption.
- Choose a response that matches the notice. A Content ID claim and a copyright removal request have different processes. Do not submit a legal counter notification just to dispute an ordinary claim.
How to protect future lofi broadcasts and replays
- Keep a local recording. YouTube recommends a local archive as a backup because a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured. A local copy protects your own recording; it does not prevent moderation or restore a replay that YouTube did not archive.
- Consider shorter broadcast segments. Ending and restarting before a stream reaches 12 hours may make retaining separate archives more practical. This is an inference from YouTube’s duration guidance, not a guarantee that every shorter segment will archive successfully.
- Review music permissions before going live. Check the license’s livestream terms and territories, and ask about Content ID allowlisting where needed.
- Save the evidence you may need. Keep the license and relevant correspondence, and note the Studio status and timestamps if a claim or interruption occurs.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep uploaded lofi videos looping on YouTube, StreamNeo is an alternative to leaving a computer running. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not stream from a camera. It cannot change YouTube’s archive, copyright, or policy rules, so it is not a guarantee that YouTube will retain a replay.
- Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.
- Each slot streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot.
- Automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free, with no card required.
The monthly option is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for details, or start the free first day.
