If the bump happens at the exact moment your sleep-sounds file restarts, the most likely place to look is the edit between the end and the beginning. OBS repeats a file when playback finishes, but its Loop setting does not repair or crossfade that join. Listen to the boundary, edit it in an audio editor, then test the result through OBS before going live.
First check whether the bump follows the loop
Listen through at least two consecutive repeats. If the bump lands at the same point each time, inspect the audio file’s ending and beginning first. The repeating behavior and the sound of the join are separate: OBS Media Source supports common audio formats such as MP3, AAC, OGG and WAV, and its Loop option replays a file when playback completes; it does not guarantee a seamless transition between its end and start. If the noise happens at different moments rather than at each repeat, check whether another OBS source, scene change or event is entering the mix. Use OBS’s per-source meters and monitoring to compare what you hear at the source with what OBS is sending onward. OBS audio monitoring guidance
What kind of seam are you hearing?
A sharp click
A brief click is consistent with a sudden jump in the waveform at an edit point. A short fade can smooth a small discontinuity, but it may not conceal a larger change in the underlying ambience. Audacity’s Fade and Crossfade manual

A broader bump, swell or dip
A longer change in loudness or texture can make the restart noticeable even without a sharp click. Check for a level mismatch, silence at one end, a cut through a sound, or ambience that changes abruptly from the tail to the opening.
Distortion that is not confined to the boundary
Check the OBS output level as well as the edit. OBS says output should remain below 0 dBFS to avoid clipping distortion. A recurring bump at one precise boundary may still be an editing issue; lowering gain can provide headroom, but it cannot make an incompatible edit sound continuous. OBS audio mixer guidance

Repair the join in the audio file
- Audition the boundary. Play the final seconds and then the first seconds immediately afterward. Listen for a hard cut through a sound, leading or trailing silence, a sudden level change, or a different ambient texture.
- Choose a more compatible edit point. For steady sleep ambience, look for a section whose level and texture can lead naturally back to the opening. Moving the cut may help more than adding a fade if the current join crosses a phrase or a major change in the sound.
- Overlap the audio for a crossfade when needed. A crossfade overlaps two sections, fades one out and brings the other in. Audacity’s Crossfade Tracks effect requires an overlap. Audacity’s Fade and Crossfade manual
- Compare fade curves by listening. A constant-gain crossfade can dip slightly in the middle; a constant-power crossfade can keep the perceived level more even but may produce higher peaks. Neither is a universal preset. Choose the curve that sounds continuous for your recording, then check the peak level.
- Export and audition repeated joins. A very short fade may remove a click, but it will not necessarily hide a large change in ambience. Listen to the exported file looping several times and adjust the edit point or overlap if the seam remains audible.
Test the sound OBS actually sends
- Load the edited file in the intended OBS Media Source and confirm the correct file and Loop setting are active. The Loop option repeats the file after playback completes; it does not crossfade it. OBS Media Sources documentation
- Listen to the source and through OBS monitoring. Check that the expected source is active and that a scene or source restart is not changing playback unexpectedly.
- Record a representative test in OBS, including a repeat point, and listen back before going live. This checks the rendered mix rather than only the original file. OBS recommends monitoring and recording a session for playback review. OBS audio monitoring guidance
- Watch the OBS peak meter during the loudest part of the overlap. If output approaches or crosses 0 dBFS, lower the level and test again; output above that digital maximum can clip. OBS audio mixer guidance
Choose a fix by listening for four things
- Click or bump: Did the sharp transient disappear, or is a broader swell still audible?
- Level through the join: Does the crossfade dip in the middle or become too loud?
- Ambient continuity: Does the texture return naturally, without a sudden change in the sound or musical phrase?
- Peak headroom: Does the loudest part remain below 0 dBFS in OBS?
Check rights separately from sound quality
A clean loop does not establish that you have permission to broadcast the audio. YouTube’s Audio Library offers production music and sound effects; for tracks marked Creative Commons, YouTube says to include the required attribution in the video description. Check the terms for the intended broadcast and any use outside YouTube. YouTube cautions that it cannot speak for other libraries or off-platform rights questions. YouTube Audio Library guidance
