Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →First identify which delay you mean: is the entire livestream arriving behind the event, or does playback pause only when one video changes to the next? Those are different problems. YouTube defines stream latency as the time between the camera or encoder capturing an event and viewers seeing it; a pause that repeats at every video boundary points instead to the source, playlist, or encoder handoff. The boundary alone does not establish a single cause.
Determine where the delay happens
Watch the stream through a transition and ask two questions: does the broadcast remain live, and does the pause occur only at the video boundary? YouTube describes latency as a delay along the path from capture by the camera or encoder to viewer playback. A boundary-specific pause is a different symptom, so lowering the stream’s latency setting is not automatically the right fix.
- The whole stream is behind: Check the latency mode and, if you know the ingestion protocol, whether the stream uses RTMP or HLS.
- Only the transition pauses: Check whether the outgoing media stays continuous when the source changes from one video to the next.
- The broadcast ends or restarts: Investigate the encoder or automation workflow for a stream stop or restart at each item boundary.
These observations narrow the investigation; they do not identify the cause without details about the source, encoder, protocol, and what viewers see.
If the entire livestream is behind
Review the latency setting and its tradeoff
YouTube says that lower latency means less read-ahead buffering and may result in more playback buffering. If viewers need to interact with an event in near real time, a lower-latency setting may help reduce the delay, but it is not a guaranteed fix for a pause between prerecorded videos. If the existing stream plays smoothly and interaction is not time-sensitive, weigh the potential increase in buffering before lowering latency.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check whether the stream uses HLS or RTMP
YouTube documents HLS as higher-latency than RTMP because HLS sends video in segments rather than as a continuous stream. For an HLS stream, YouTube specifies segment durations from 1 to 4 seconds and says shorter segments lower latency. These are protocol-specific details, not a universal explanation for a gap at a loop boundary; confirm the encoder’s protocol and configuration before changing settings.
If the pause happens between videos
Check continuity at the source or encoder
Look at the outgoing audio and video around the transition, not just the YouTube player. YouTube’s encoder guidance says that ending a stream involves stopping content transmission, and its API describes broadcast completion after transmission stops. This makes continuity through the source or encoder handoff a useful place to investigate. It is a troubleshooting inference, not proof that a particular encoder or playlist caused the pause.

- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Note whether video, audio, or both stop at the boundary.
- Check whether the encoder or playback source remains active while it changes items.
- Observe whether the YouTube broadcast stays live, or ends and starts again at each transition.
If YouTube stays live but playback briefly freezes or goes silent, inspect the outgoing media and transition behavior first. If the broadcast itself ends or restarts, focus on the encoder or automation workflow that controls transmission.

- Whether the delay is continuous or occurs only between items.
- Whether the YouTube broadcast remains live during the pause.
- Whether other viewers see the same pause.
- Which encoder and playback source are in use.
- Whether ingestion uses RTMP or HLS.
- Whether audio, video, or both stop at the transition.
Comparing what the encoder sends with what viewers receive can help distinguish a source or handoff interruption from delay later in the playback path. The available YouTube guidance does not determine which applies to your channel without those observations.
