The message “A Ubisoft service is currently unavailable. Please try again later” is a nonspecific connection or service-availability error. It does not confirm that Ubisoft’s servers are down or identify one cause on your PC. Check Ubisoft’s current service information first; if no relevant issue is reported, verify your sign-in and work through the client and connectivity checks below.
What the error means—and what it does not
Ubisoft Connect is unable to complete a service request, but the message alone cannot tell you whether the interruption is on Ubisoft’s side or related to your account, client cache, or connection. Ubisoft Support has associated the message with a server degradation in one past incident; that does not establish a current outage or a universal explanation.

In a Steam support discussion dated August 20, 2021, Ubisoft Support representative Ubi Milky wrote: “We had a degradation on our servers earlier that may have caused this message to appear for you.” In the same discussion, support also said an incorrect email address or password could cause the message. These are examples of possible causes, not a diagnosis of your current error. Read the support discussion.

Check Ubisoft’s current service information
Look for a current Ubisoft notice affecting Ubisoft Connect or the game you are trying to launch. Service incidents and maintenance can change quickly, and no current service state is established here. If Ubisoft reports a relevant problem, wait for it to be resolved before changing settings on your PC. Check Ubisoft Help.

Verify your sign-in details
Confirm that you are using the email address and password for the correct Ubisoft account. If you are unsure of the password, use Ubisoft’s account recovery options rather than repeatedly guessing.
Work through low-impact client checks
- Restart Ubisoft Connect. Close the client, open it again, and retry the sign-in or game launch. This is a simple diagnostic step, not a guaranteed fix.
- Clear the Ubisoft Connect cache using Ubisoft’s current instructions. Ubisoft Support recommended clearing the cache, but avoid relying on an unverified folder path: follow the instructions on Ubisoft’s cache help page.
- Use Ubisoft’s connectivity guide. If the error continues, follow the current guidance in Ubisoft’s connectivity and performance help. Support recommended this resource, but the specific steps may depend on your situation.
When to consider Windows-level checks
Ubisoft Support also mentioned running Windows System File Checker and trying IPv6 settings. These are later troubleshooting options, not universal remedies. Use them only when appropriate to your Windows setup and connection; do not disable security protections or make broad network changes without a clear reason. If you are uncertain what a setting does, contact Ubisoft Support or a qualified technician before changing it.

When to contact Ubisoft Support
If the error remains after the relevant checks—or if the service status is unclear—contact Ubisoft Support. Include the game, platform, region, approximate time the error appeared, the exact message, and the steps you have already tried. Those details can help support distinguish a service-side incident from an account or local connectivity issue.
