Fortnite is still playable on Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets. Epic’s current support page says Fortnite and Rocket League Sideswipe are no longer downloadable through the Epic Games app distributed by the Samsung Galaxy Store. Samsung users can instead install the Epic Games Store from Epic’s website, use Google Play, or stream Fortnite through supported cloud services.
Epic connected the distribution change to its opposition to Samsung’s Auto Blocker, but the exact reason for the delisting is not established as a single, formally stated protest decision. Epic’s broader claims that Samsung and Google coordinated to disadvantage competing app stores remain allegations in litigation, not court findings.
What actually disappeared from the Galaxy Store?
The change concerns the distribution channel, not Fortnite’s availability on Samsung hardware. Epic says the games are no longer available for download through the Epic Games app delivered via the Samsung Galaxy Store. That older listing should not be confused with the current Epic Games Store for Android, which Epic distributes from its own website.
Epic’s support guidance is available at its Galaxy Store support page. The page also tells existing players to follow the in-game update prompt through the Epic Games app.

The timeline: Auto Blocker, then Epic’s legal challenge
- October 2023: Epic says Samsung introduced Auto Blocker as an opt-in feature.
- July 2024: Epic says Samsung made Auto Blocker enabled by default. This is the date Epic gives for the setting change, not a confirmed Fortnite delisting date.
- September 30, 2024: Epic announced its challenge to Google and Samsung, saying Auto Blocker harmed competing app distribution. Read Epic’s announcement.
- Current status: Epic’s support and Samsung-specific pages direct users to Epic’s website, Google Play, or cloud gaming. Neither current support page supplies a precise date for the Galaxy Store removal.
What Auto Blocker does
Auto Blocker is a Samsung device-security control. When active, it restricts installation from sources other than Google Play and Galaxy Store. That can prevent a browser-downloaded installer such as the Epic Games Store from running until the setting is changed.
Epic’s legal complaint describes the feature as treating Google Play and Galaxy Store as authorized sources while blocking other stores or direct web downloads. The complaint also says users may see warning screens and extra confirmation steps. Those descriptions and Epic’s characterization of the feature as anticompetitive are allegations in Epic’s first amended complaint, not adjudicated findings.

For the One UI 6.1.1 flow documented by Epic, the setting is located at Settings → Security and privacy → Auto Blocker. Turn off the toggle and authenticate when prompted. Samsung menu names can differ on other One UI versions and Galaxy models. Epic has described the combined installation process as taking as many as 21 steps; that figure is its estimate and can vary by device, software version, region, and account state.

- blocks direct installation by default;
- adds warnings and confirmation screens before a user reaches Epic’s store;
- makes Google Play and Galaxy Store appear to be the normal authorized routes; and
- raises the cost of reaching an alternative store.
Epic asked the court to require Samsung to stop enabling Auto Blocker by default. Its complaint also alleges coordination with Google. Those are Epic’s litigation theories and requested remedies; no conclusion about unlawful coordination should be presented as settled fact without a later ruling.
How to play Fortnite on a Samsung device now
Option 1: Install the Epic Games Store for Android
This is Epic’s direct-distribution route and the one that gives access to Epic’s Android storefront.

- Open Epic’s official Android page: store.epicgames.com/mobile/android.
- Download and install the Epic Games Store app.
- If Auto Blocker prevents installation, use Settings → Security and privacy → Auto Blocker to turn it off, following the labels on your device.
- Open the Epic Games Store, sign in to the correct Epic account, and install or update Fortnite.
- Re-enable Auto Blocker afterward if you want Samsung’s default restriction restored. Future Epic Store installations or updates may require changing it again.
Epic says the store is free, requires Android 8 (SDK 26) or later, and is optimized for Android 14 (SDK 34) or later. The store app itself requires approximately 25 MB. Epic lists Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League Sideswipe, and says sign-in preserves cross-platform progression. Purchases may earn 5% to 20% back in Epic Rewards under its terms.
Option 2: Use Google Play
Epic’s current Samsung download page also lists Google Play. This is the conventional installation and update path, with no sideloading step. It does not use Epic’s independent Android storefront.

Option 3: Stream Fortnite from the cloud
Epic lists Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce NOW, and Amazon Luna for supported regions. Cloud play requires no local Fortnite installation, but availability, account requirements, controller support, subscriptions, and performance vary by provider and country. A stable, low-latency connection is essential.

Epic says players with Fortnite already installed should follow the in-game prompt to update through the Epic Games app. An installation obtained through the former Galaxy Store channel may not receive updates there indefinitely.
- Sign in with the same Epic account to retain progression.
- If the old app cannot update, install the current Epic Games Store from Epic’s official website and reinstall Fortnite through it.
- Do not assume every existing installation will continue working after an operating-system change or a major game update.
- If you cannot access Epic’s download page, Google Play is the other native route listed by Epic.
Security and convenience trade-offs

Turning Auto Blocker off removes one layer of Samsung’s default protection against installations outside Google Play and Galaxy Store. If you do so, use only Epic’s official domain and verify the address before downloading. Do not use APK mirrors, “bypass” utilities, unofficial launchers, or modified Fortnite packages.
