A 24/7 broadcast is not, by itself, a documented reason that YouTube disables gifted channel memberships. YouTube’s help describes membership gifting during live streams and Premieres when the channel has gifting enabled. The cause is more likely to be channel eligibility or settings, live chat, recipient eligibility, or a country-verification or payment issue. India’s recurring-membership payment guidance is not evidence of a blanket ban on gifting.
First, identify which kind of “gift” you mean
YouTube has more than one feature that may be described as gifting. Gifted channel memberships are one-month access to a channel’s membership perks, purchased by a viewer through live chat during a stream or Premiere. YouTube’s separate Jewels and virtual-items Gifts feature is not the same thing. The availability rules for one do not automatically explain the other.
If the option you cannot find is specifically to buy channel memberships for viewers, follow the checks below. If you mean virtual gifts or Jewels, check YouTube’s separate virtual-items availability and stream eligibility guidance instead.
Check the channel’s membership feature
Confirm the channel is eligible and has activated memberships
Memberships are a creator feature subject to YouTube’s eligibility and policy requirements. YouTube says the Memberships tab appears for eligible channels; the creator must turn the feature on and accept the Commerce Product Module. If memberships are paused because of the channel’s monetization or policy status, the Join button disappears. Check YouTube Studio’s Memberships area and any notices about eligibility, paused status, or required acceptance.

Make sure gifting is enabled
Gift purchases require a channel with gifting enabled. If the channel is eligible for memberships but viewers still cannot gift them, check the gifting controls and the channel’s monetization or policy notices rather than assuming the stream duration is the cause.
Check the live stream and chat
Membership gifting takes place through live chat, so confirm that live chat is available on the broadcast and that channel membership gifting is enabled. If chat is disabled or unavailable, viewers may not have the gifting flow where YouTube says it occurs.

Some restrictions documented for Jewels or virtual-item Gifts are specific to that feature. YouTube lists conditions such as age restriction, an unlisted or private stream, Made for Kids status, a YouTube Giving fundraiser, or disabled live chat/comments for that feature. Do not treat that list as a definitive rulebook for channel membership gifts; use it if you discover that you were looking at virtual Gifts rather than membership gifts.
Check whether the viewer can buy or receive a gift
For a viewer trying to send a gift
Ask whether the viewer sees a country-verification or payment error. YouTube’s billing guidance for “We couldn’t verify your country” recommends trying a different network or device and turning off a VPN or proxy. A VPN or network-location mismatch can interfere with country verification; retry after switching to a normal connection.

For India, YouTube also documents RBI eMandate requirements that may require payment details to be verified or re-entered to maintain recurring channel memberships. That guidance concerns billing and recurring memberships. It does not state that viewers in India are barred from buying gifted channel memberships.
For someone trying to receive a gift
The recipient must opt in to receive gifts. YouTube’s stated conditions include using a signed-in, non-Brand Account, subscribing to the channel, and having interacted with it recently. A person who is already a member of that channel is not currently eligible to receive a gifted membership. Check these recipient conditions if gifting is available but a particular viewer does not receive one.

Does the 24/7 duration or archive affect gifting?
YouTube’s published membership-gifting instructions do not document a special rule that disables channel membership gifts because a live stream runs continuously. The available guidance therefore does not establish 24/7 duration as the cause; an account-specific setting or eligibility issue may still need to be checked.
Archive capture is a separate issue. YouTube says it may automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours and warns, “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” That is an archive limitation, not a stated restriction on gifting while the broadcast is live.

A practical troubleshooting order
- Confirm the feature: determine whether the missing option is for channel membership gifts or for Jewels/virtual-item Gifts.
- Check the channel: verify that memberships are available and active, that the channel has accepted the Commerce Product Module, and that there is no paused membership status or unresolved eligibility notice.
- Check the broadcast: confirm that live chat is available and membership gifting is enabled.
- Check the viewer: for a recipient, verify opt-in, signed-in non-Brand Account status, subscription and recent interaction, and whether the person is already a channel member.
- Check payment and location errors: if a country-verification message appears, retry on another network or device with VPN or proxy disabled. In India, review any request to verify or re-enter payment details for recurring memberships.
- Keep archive symptoms separate: if the concern is that the broadcast is not saved afterward, treat that as a stream-archive issue, not proof that live gifting was disabled.
If the option is still missing, note the exact error, whether the viewer or creator sees it, the stream’s visibility and chat status, and whether the feature is channel membership gifting or virtual Gifts. Those details distinguish an eligibility or setting problem from a billing or country-verification problem.
