If custom-content furniture is not showing up in The Sims 4, first check that you are playing on PC or Mac, the game’s custom-content setting is enabled, and the furniture’s extracted .package file is in the user-data Mods folder the game actually reads. Apply the setting and restart the game. If the item is still missing, check its location and dependencies, clear the thumbnail cache, then test it without other Mods.
Check whether your platform supports custom content
Electronic Arts supports Mods and custom content on PC and Mac, but not on PlayStation or Xbox. If you are playing on console, PC/Mac furniture downloads will not load. EA’s Mods and The Sims 4 page explains the platform limits and installation basics.
Enable custom content and restart the game
- From the main menu, open Game Options > Other.
- Check Enable Custom Content and Mods, then apply the change.
- Exit and relaunch the game so the setting takes effect.
The separate Script Mods Allowed option is for script Mods. Ordinary furniture custom content in a .package file uses the custom-content setting instead.
Make sure the file is in the active Mods folder
The folder described in the EA Forums installation guide is Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods. Put the furniture there—not in the game’s program-install directory or in a different Sims 4 folder.

If you have redirected your Documents folder or use cloud synchronization, the folder you see may not be the one the game reads. Check the active user-data location before moving files again. CurseForge support also identifies OneDrive as a possible source of interference; as a diagnostic, temporarily quit OneDrive and restart the game using its Mods not showing up guidance.
Extract the download and place the package file correctly
EA’s installation instructions say to unzip .zip and .rar downloads before moving their contents into Mods. The furniture itself is usually a .package file. Make sure that file—not just the archive or a folder that still contains the archive—is installed. Some items also need a creator-specified mesh or other dependency; check the download’s instructions and include any required files.

Package-only files can be organized up to five subfolder levels deep, according to the EA Forums guide. A .ts4script file has a stricter limit of one folder level, but that is a script-file rule, not a reason to put ordinary furniture in the wrong folder.
Check that the furniture is not in Tray
The Tray folder is for Sims, rooms, and lots saved to or downloaded into the in-game Library. It holds file types such as .blueprint, .bpi, .hhi, .room, and .trayitem. A standalone furniture object belongs in Mods; any associated custom-content .package files belong there too.

Clear the thumbnail cache after changing Mods files
- Exit the game.
- In
Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, deletelocalthumbcache.package. - Relaunch the game and check the item again.
The game recreates this cache file. The EA Forums guide recommends removing it when removing or replacing Mods files.
Test for an outdated or conflicting Mod
Game updates can make Mods stop working. EA says gameplay-changing Game Mods are more likely to cause problems than custom content, so remove or move those first while narrowing down an issue. To test the furniture, start with a clean Mods folder, then add only the item and its stated dependencies.

If the furniture works by itself, another file may be conflicting. Add your other files back in batches. When the issue returns, split that batch and test each half, repeating until you identify the file causing the problem. This is commonly called the 50/50 method; EA describes batch testing in its guidance on Mods and game updates.
EA associates error codes 102, 123, 125, 127, 129, and 131 with possible script issues, and says code 110 usually follows an update and is caused by outdated Mods. These codes can point toward Mod troubleshooting, but they do not prove that a particular furniture item is broken.

If the setting keeps turning off or the item remains missing
The EA Forums guide notes that antivirus or other security settings can sometimes turn the Mods setting off again. Check the setting after relaunching. If the problem persists, gather the platform, game version, exact custom-content filenames, the folder path, and whether the file appears in the in-game custom-content listing. Then check the creator’s update notes and dependency requirements. EA does not pre-screen or endorse specific Mods and recommends choosing trusted creators; its installation page directs unresolved installation problems to EA support.
