Among Us has an official Android version, but that does not mean it is officially available for Amazon Fire tablets. Fire tablets run Amazon’s Android-based Fire OS, use the Amazon Appstore, and do not include Google’s mobile services. Innersloth’s published platform list does not identify Fire OS as supported. The practical result: unless the Amazon Appstore offers the game for your exact tablet and marketplace, there is no officially supported Fire-tablet installation to rely on.
The short answer
Innersloth lists Among Us for Android, iOS, PC stores, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, but not Fire OS or Amazon’s Appstore. That is different from an explicit statement that every Fire tablet is technically incapable of running the game: Innersloth’s cited support page does not name Fire tablets among its examples of unsupported devices. The defensible conclusion is that there is no clearly supported Fire OS release in the official information cited here.
Amazon Fire tablets are not simply Google-certified Android tablets with a different storefront. Fire OS is based on Android, but Amazon devices do not natively include Google Mobile Services or Google Play Services. Developers who want to distribute an app through Amazon’s store may need to adapt Google-dependent features and publish a Fire-compatible build. Amazon’s Android app-porting guidance explains that Google Play Services and other unsupported APIs may need changes; its Fire OS documentation directs developers to Amazon equivalents where applicable.
Innersloth has not, in the cited sources, announced a specific technical reason, a ban, or a planned Fire OS release. So the most careful explanation is a distribution and compatibility gap: the standard Android game is available through Google Play, while an officially supported Fire OS/Amazon Appstore version is not identified in Innersloth’s platform information.

Why an Android game may be missing from a Fire tablet
“Android” describes a broad family of software environments, not a guarantee that every Android app will work on every Android-derived device. An app can depend on Google APIs for features such as sign-in, billing, analytics, or other services. Fire OS does not provide Google’s mobile-services layer natively, so a developer may need to replace, remove, or adapt those dependencies before an app works reliably on Fire devices.
There is also a publishing step. A developer must make a compatible version available in the Amazon Appstore. Amazon filters app availability using factors such as device targeting, manifest requirements, hardware features, software/API requirements, and marketplace availability. An app that is incompatible or not offered for a device may be hidden from search or browsing rather than displaying a universal “this device cannot run it” explanation. That means several different situations can look alike to a Fire owner: no Amazon listing for the game, a listing filtered for that tablet, an unavailable regional marketplace, or an app hidden from a child profile by parental controls. None of those, by itself, proves Amazon banned the game or that every Fire tablet lacks enough processing power.

Innersloth’s platform information lists Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS, and itch.io. It gives examples of unsupported devices, including Mac and Chromebooks, but does not specifically call out Fire tablets. Fire OS is simply absent from the published supported-platform list.

For Android, Innersloth’s current published minimum is Android 6.0 or later and at least 2.1 GB of RAM. Its recommended Android hardware includes a Snapdragon 855-class chipset or equivalent and 6 GB of RAM; recommendations are not a promise that all devices meeting those figures will work. Innersloth cautions that general specifications cannot guarantee compatibility with every individual Android device. Check its current requirements and compatibility guidance.
There are therefore two separate questions: does your tablet meet the game’s broad Android minimums, and is a Fire OS-compatible version actually distributed for it? Meeting the Android minimum does not answer the second question.
Could installing Google Play or an APK solve it?
Some Fire owners add Google Play or sideload an Android package, and results can vary by tablet generation, Fire OS version, and software combination. But this is not an official installation path for Among Us on Fire tablets, and there is no universally reliable method established by the official sources cited here.
Even if a package installs, that does not prove the game will sign in, connect to multiplayer, receive updates, or keep working after an operating-system or game update. A manually installed game may also rely on Google components that Fire OS does not include. Installing just the game APK is not the same as having a supported Fire OS release.

Sideloading also means trusting an installation file and enabling installation outside the normal store. Avoid modified or suspicious APKs and sites promising a guaranteed fix. Unofficial files can be outdated, altered, or unsafe, and installation success is not proof of authenticity or ongoing compatibility. The official Google Play listing identifies the Android game’s developer as Innersloth LLC: Among Us on Google Play.
Check your particular Fire tablet
- Identify the exact model and generation. Open Settings and look under Device Options or device information for the Fire tablet model. Labels vary by Fire OS release; if needed, search Settings for “model.”
- Check Fire OS. Search Settings for “Fire OS” or open the device/system update area. Install available system and Appstore updates, then check again. Updating can fix a stale storefront, but it cannot create a game version that the developer has not published.
- Search the Amazon Appstore on the tablet itself. Use the adult owner profile and the marketplace for your country. A web result or phone-oriented store page may not reflect availability on your particular device.
- Check profiles and parental controls. Amazon Kids and other restrictions may hide apps that are not visible from the child profile. An adult profile result is more useful for diagnosing the store listing.
- Compare hardware with Innersloth’s published Android minimum. Check Android version and RAM against the stated Android 6.0 and 2.1 GB minimum, but treat this only as a hardware/software comparison—not as confirmation of Fire OS support.
- Interpret the result narrowly. If the Appstore offers an install button for your exact tablet, that is the clearest official indication of availability in that marketplace at that moment. If the app is absent or marked incompatible, the cause could be store distribution, device filtering, region, or profile settings; it does not establish a universal hardware ban.
Why an old copy may no longer work
An older installed copy is not necessarily usable today. Innersloth announced that mobile devices below its minimum requirements would lose support beginning May 15, 2023 (announcement). It also says versions of Among Us from 2023 and earlier could no longer connect as of August 6, 2025, in its requirements information.
So a game that once opened may now be unable to connect or update. Other possible explanations include an outdated tablet, a missing Google service, an old or unofficial package, a changed Appstore listing, or profile and regional restrictions. The fact that an icon remains installed—or that an APK once launched—is not evidence that the current game is supported.

What to use instead
- Google-certified Android tablet: The closest tablet alternative is a device with Google Play access. Confirm the model’s Android version, RAM, certification, update support, and current game compatibility before buying. The normal Android distribution is the Google Play listing.
- iPad: iPad is on Innersloth’s supported-platform list. Its published iPad minimum is iPadOS 13.0 or later; check the specific device and current requirements before purchase.
- PC or console: Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch are listed by Innersloth as platforms. This is a practical choice if your household already owns one.
- Keep the Fire tablet for other uses: Fire tablets may still suit reading, streaming, Amazon Kids, and many Appstore apps. They are a poor choice if broad Google Play gaming compatibility is a central requirement.
If you already own a recent Fire tablet, first check its exact model, marketplace, adult profile, and Amazon Appstore listing. If you are shopping specifically to play Among Us, do not buy a Fire tablet on the assumption that installing Google Play or an APK will make the game work. Choose a device on an officially supported platform instead, or buy only after confirming the game is visibly offered for that exact Fire model and region.

Can I play Among Us on a Kindle Fire?
Only if the Amazon Appstore currently offers a compatible version for your exact Fire tablet and marketplace. Innersloth’s published supported-platform list does not identify Fire OS, so an Android minimum spec or an installed APK alone is not proof of official support.
Is Among Us in the Amazon Appstore?
