As reproduced by The Mary Sue and Dexerto, the official Overwatch account posted a short promotion for the Yatagarasu Kiriko skin on October 16, 2024. The clip showed the skin before zooming in on Kiriko’s feet and purple toenails. Its caption read:

“Yatagarasu Kiriko has GRIPPERS??? 🫣🦶 Drop a 🦶 if you’re hyped for Kiriko’s new skin in Season 13 ✨”
“Grippers” is slang for feet. The wording and foot-emoji prompt made the post’s focus unusually explicit for a skin promotion.

Why did some fans say “delete this right now”?
Some replies objected to the account’s choice to emphasize Kiriko’s feet. Coverage quoted one user writing, “delete this right now.” Other reported responses criticized the social team, while some users joked about the post or said it made them more interested in the skin. GINX also reported a range of reactions.
These examples support describing the reaction as mixed. They do not establish how most Overwatch players felt: the cited coverage offers replies, not a representative survey or measured sentiment analysis.

No. The Mary Sue, Dexerto and GINX characterized the Kiriko clip alongside earlier feet-focused promotional posts, but the coverage does not quantify how often that happened or establish Blizzard’s internal reasoning. The post itself is clear; a deliberate broader marketing strategy or motive is not confirmed by an official explanation in the cited reports.
