What did the Overwatch 2 post show?
In October 2024, the official Overwatch social account shared a short video introducing the Yatagarasu Kiriko skin. After showing the outfit, the video lingered on Kiriko’s feet. Its caption read, “Yatagarasu Kiriko has GRIPPERS???” and invited people to comment with a foot emoji if they were excited about the skin. The official post

Why did Overwatch use Kiriko’s feet to advertise the skin?
The campaign’s explanation came from its entrant, Overwatch 2 and agency Mutiny, in a Shorty Awards entry. The team said it believed Overwatch’s social community already had an ongoing fascination with heroes’ feet, and wanted to join that conversation with a playful post. The entry described the goal as “win the weird side of the internet for a day.” That is the campaign team’s account of its intent, not independent evidence about what players generally think.
The execution extended beyond the social post: the entry also describes a creator preview that censored the feet to build anticipation. In the entrant’s words, “With the announcement of the new Yatagarasu Kiriko skin, we knew our Overwatch social channels had to be the first place to reveal this skin’s…interesting feature.” Shorty Awards campaign entry
