If VALORANT or Battlefield 6 stopped launching after you installed or updated the other game, the exact error message is the best place to start. EA’s published Javelin guidance does not identify Riot Vanguard as incompatible software, so the available evidence does not establish that the two anti-cheats inherently conflict. Follow the failing game’s error-specific instructions before changing security settings or uninstalling software.
Start with the game and the exact error
Before changing anything, note which game fails, the full error text or code, and whether the other game or its launcher is running. A message naming incompatible software, a VAN security restriction, a missing Secure Boot prompt, a Javelin service error, and a crash point to different troubleshooting paths.
Use the support channel responsible for the message: EA Help for Javelin errors or Riot Support for Vanguard requirements. Restarting or checking a named background program is less intrusive than changing firmware, so try the error-specific software steps first.
If Battlefield 6 reports a Javelin error
Restart first, then follow the error-specific instructions
EA says Javelin errors commonly involve corrupted game files or conflicting background software and recommends restarting the game first. If the error names software that cannot be used at the same time, EA says that software is on its denylist; follow the message’s instruction to update or disable the named program, then restart.

EA’s reviewed support guidance does not name Riot Vanguard as denylisted software. A general conflict message is therefore not evidence that Vanguard is the cause, and it does not establish that removing Vanguard will fix the problem. Do not disable security protections or uninstall another anti-cheat based only on speculation.
If the EA anticheat service cannot start or find its installation
For a service-start or installation-location error, EA suggests relaunching the EA app as administrator and starting Battlefield 6 through the app, or reinstalling Javelin. If you uninstall Javelin, games protected by it will not be playable until you reinstall it.

If VALORANT shows a Vanguard security restriction
Vanguard’s system requirements depend on the prompt and system configuration. Riot lists TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, Memory Integrity (HVCI/VBS), and IOMMU among the security features that may be required. Check the Vanguard tray icon or the support page linked by the error to identify the setting your system actually needs; do not change unrelated BIOS settings.
For VAN 9005
Riot’s VAN 9005 instructions call for checking TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and Memory Integrity in sequence. Restart after making a change. If the error remains, Riot advises contacting Player Support with logs.

For a VAN:Restriction warning
Riot says an affected system may need listed security features enabled or a motherboard firmware update. Riot explains that the warning does not necessarily mean it suspects cheating; it can indicate that the system configuration resembles configurations used to evade Vanguard’s security features. Use the Riot motherboard security update for context, and use only the exact firmware procedure published by your motherboard manufacturer. Firmware steps vary by system, so do not install a generic BIOS file or follow instructions for a different model.
Check Secure Boot for Battlefield 6
EA states that Secure Boot is required to play Battlefield 6 on PC. Its Secure Boot information explains the game’s requirement. If Battlefield 6 reports a Secure Boot problem, follow EA’s guidance for that requirement rather than assuming Vanguard caused it. Secure Boot is also among the features Riot may require for Vanguard, but overlapping requirements alone do not show that the anti-cheats conflict.

Keep a crash separate from an anti-cheat conflict
EA has separately reported increased Battlefield 6 client crashes associated with CPU microcode and a Windows Insider update conflict. EA said it worked with Microsoft and Intel on a resolution and advised keeping microcode and Windows updated. That reported stability issue is distinct from an established Vanguard/Javelin incompatibility; a crash by itself does not identify either anti-cheat as the cause.
