Then clear the Sims 4 cache, confirm the mod supports your current game version, and test for conflicts with other mods. The right fix depends on what is happening; an error code or a broken animation alone does not prove WickedWhims is the cause.
Start with the symptom
Identify what “not working” means before changing files. A mod that does not appear in-game points first to settings or installation. A problem that began after a Sims 4 update calls for a compatibility check. Distorted or floating body parts are a separate visual-rig issue, while an error message may indicate a broader script-mod problem.

- WickedWhims does not appear: check mod settings, restart the game, and verify the files are installed correctly.
- It stopped working after an update: check the creator’s compatibility information for your current game version.
- You see an error: use the code as a clue, not as proof that WickedWhims is responsible.
- Animations look distorted: investigate animation rigs and related mods rather than deleting animation content indiscriminately.
If WickedWhims does not appear or stay enabled
Enable script mods and restart
In The Sims 4, open Game Options, then Other, and enable Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed. Apply the changes and restart the game; changing these options does not take effect until you restart. EA notes that game updates may disable mods, so check the settings again after an update. EA also recommends first confirming the game works correctly with mods disabled. See EA’s guidance on mods and Sims 4 updates and the WickedWhims project README.
Verify the folder and remove duplicate copies
Make sure the WickedWhims files are in the active Sims 4 Mods folder, not an old or differently located copy. Avoid placing the script files inside several layers of folders, and remove duplicate WickedWhims installations so the game is not loading multiple copies. The project README is the primary source for its installation and visibility checks; a third-party installation page also warns that TS4SCRIPT files should be no more than one subfolder deep: WickedCC installation instructions.

Clear the cache file
Close the game, open the Sims 4 user-data folder, and delete localthumbcache.package. The game can recreate this cache file on the next launch. The WickedWhims README includes this in its troubleshooting guidance, but deleting it is a step to try, not a guaranteed fix.
If the problem began after a game update
Check the current WickedWhims creator information against the version of The Sims 4 you have installed. EA says updates can disable mods and that a creator may need time to update a mod; a mod may need updating or reinstalling to work with a changed game. Do not rely on an old compatibility notice as if it described the current release: for example, a WickedWhims v182d note dated November 18, 2024 is historical, not a current version requirement. Use the creator’s latest compatibility guidance for your actual game version. EA’s update guidance explains the general issue.

If errors or glitches continue, isolate other mods
Another package or script mod may be involved. EA cautions that mods can cause conflicts in different ways, and an error does not single out one mod. WickedWhims v185k release information likewise describes other package or script files as possible causes when WickedWhims itself is confirmed compatible.
- Back up your saves before making broad changes.
- Move other mods out of the Mods folder temporarily, leaving only the WickedWhims files needed for the test.
- Launch the game and check whether the original symptom remains.
- If it goes away, restore the other mods in small groups, testing between changes, to narrow down which file or combination triggers it.
This is an isolation method, not a guarantee that one particular mod is responsible. The exact cause depends on the files installed and the game version. For general Sims 4 guidance, see EA’s mod troubleshooting advice; for the release-specific note, see WickedWhims v185k release information.

For distorted, stuck, or floating body parts
Check for incompatible or outdated Sim animation rig modifications and other animation-extension mods. The creator’s visual guide distinguishes rigs from animation content: “Animating Rigs are NOT sex animations, you DON’T need to delete sex animations.” In other words, if the problem is a visual rig conflict, deleting all animations is not the documented fix. EA says codes 102, 123, 125, 127, 129, and 131 usually appear when there is a game script issue, so a script mod could be involved. Code 110 usually appears after a game update and is caused by outdated mods. These are general Sims 4 diagnostics, not a diagnosis of WickedWhims specifically.
