First determine whether the YouTube live broadcast ended or only the video playing inside it stopped. Those are different failures: a file or playlist may finish while the live event remains active, or the encoder, connection, or YouTube stream settings may have ended the broadcast. Check YouTube Live Control Room and your encoder at the moment it happens, then follow the matching path below.
First identify what actually stopped
When the picture stops, check both the stream preview/status in YouTube Live Control Room and the encoder or streaming software. YouTube’s live streaming troubleshooting guidance and encoder settings and features describe stream status, errors, and encoder-linked controls.
- The live event is still active, but the picture is frozen, black, or no longer advancing: investigate the media source, playlist, or encoder output.
- The live event ended or the encoder disconnected: inspect Live Control Room errors, encoder status, and the network connection.
The phrase “after one video” does not reveal which case occurred. Use the status and any displayed error to choose what to troubleshoot; do not assume the cause from the timing alone.
If the live event continues but the video stops
Check whether the source or playlist is set to repeat
A continuous live broadcast does not necessarily make a local video file or playlist repeat. If the event remains active while one video reaches its end, inspect the playback source or playlist’s loop/repeat behavior in the software you use. Confirm that the source is configured to continue into the next item or restart, as intended.

The exact control and its location depend on the source type and software version. The available evidence does not establish a version-specific OBS menu path, so treat looping as a setting to verify rather than assuming a particular toggle is responsible.
Check what the encoder is actually sending
If the source appears to keep playing but the Live Control Room preview stops advancing, check the encoder’s output and its dashboard or logs. YouTube recommends checking encoder status and CPU load, reviewing a local recording for audio or video problems, and testing the outbound internet connection in its encoder troubleshooting guidance.

If YouTube ends the broadcast or the encoder disconnects
Read Live Control Room errors before changing settings
Look for a specific stream error in YouTube Live Control Room and use it to guide the next check. YouTube documents auto-start and auto-stop settings, which let a broadcast be started or stopped from the encoder. If you reused stream settings, verify the selections on the actual broadcast instead of assuming they match the configuration you intend. Check dropped frames and the connection
If the encoder reports dropped frames, OBS says this indicates that the connection to the remote ingest server is unstable or cannot sustain the configured bitrate; enough dropped frames can disconnect the stream. Check the encoder’s status and connection rather than treating every stoppage as proof of a particular network fault. Change format only when the error points to format
If Live Control Room reports the cited incorrect-format error, YouTube’s guidance specifies H.264 video and AAC audio. Do not change codecs speculatively when no format error is shown; start with the actual dashboard message and YouTube’s error guidance.
