There is no confirmed date for GTA V to be free on the Epic Games Store again. Epic offered the game free to claim from May 15 through May 21, 2020; its weekly giveaway program continues, but that does not confirm GTA V will return.
When was GTA V free on Epic Games?
Epic Games Store announced on May 15, 2020, that Grand Theft Auto V could be claimed free through May 21 at 11 a.m. Eastern. Epic described the claimed copy as “yours to keep.” The offer was limited to that claim window, rather than a permanent free-to-play change. Read Epic’s May 15, 2020 announcement.
Will GTA V be free on Epic again?
Epic has not announced another GTA V giveaway or a future date in the official sources cited here. Epic says it gives away a free game every week, but that is a general program—not a schedule or promise that GTA V will be included again. Check Epic’s official free-games page for the active offer and new listings. Its current listing snapshot does not show GTA V as an active giveaway, though listings can change.
Does Epic currently list GTA V for PC?
Yes. Epic has a product listing for Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced for PC, but a store listing does not mean the game is currently free. Epic support says people who purchase Enhanced also receive the Legacy version. See Epic’s GTA V listing and Epic’s Enhanced and Legacy support information.

How to check for a new giveaway
- Open Epic’s Free Games page.
- Check the game title and the offer’s claim deadline on the page; do not rely on a rumored return date.
- If GTA V is listed as free, follow the Epic Store claim flow while the offer is active. A listing for purchase alone is not a free giveaway.
Was two-factor authentication required for the 2020 claim?
Epic’s notice said two-factor authentication would be periodically required for free-game claims between April 28 and May 21, 2020. That was a requirement described for that period and should not be taken as confirmation of today’s claiming rules. Read Epic’s 2020 two-factor authentication notice.
