Verdict: The Wooting 60HE v2 is a substantial refinement of the 60HE platform, not a wholly new keyboard. It keeps adjustable actuation, Rapid Trigger, analog Hall-effect sensing and Wootility, then adds a choice of ABS or aluminium cases, Lekker Tikken switches, an FR4 plate, quieter construction, optional split spacebars and true 8 kHz polling. The aluminium prebuilt is the enthusiast choice for feel, stability and acoustics; the ABS model delivers most of the gaming features for less. For many existing 60HE+ owners, however, the upgrade is incremental rather than essential.
Wooting’s official product page lists the v2 as a wired 60% keyboard with USB-C, four-year warranty (excluding LEDs) and a 30-day return policy. Shipping and configuration availability vary by region.
What is the Wooting 60HE v2?
The 60HE v2 is a compact 60% gaming keyboard using analog Hall-effect switches. Each key’s position is detected magnetically, allowing adjustable actuation points, Rapid Trigger and analog input rather than the fixed on/off behavior of a conventional mechanical switch. Wootility handles profiles, remapping and performance settings.
It is best understood as a polished second generation of the 60HE design. The underlying strengths remain low-latency input, configurable actuation and Rapid Trigger; the refresh concentrates on chassis quality, sound, mounting, switch feel and layout flexibility.

Aluminium versus ABS: what do you gain?
Aluminium model
The aluminium version weighs approximately 945 g, compared with approximately 606 g for the ABS model. Both are about 305 × 115 mm, and the front height is approximately 28.6 mm with OEM keycaps. The heavier shell sits more firmly on a desk, feels more substantial and provides interchangeable strap or no-strap mounts. Black and bright-silver finishes are listed.
Aluminium also gives Wooting more room for acoustic tuning. The bottom layer can be changed between silicone, EPDM foam and no dampening: silicone is described as sharper or clackier, while EPDM is deeper and more muted. The result still depends on switches, keycaps and the desk surface; metal alone does not guarantee a superior sound.

The trade-offs are the $60 launch premium over ABS, extra travel weight and no automatic ergonomic benefit. The aluminium case is also sold separately for $89.99, although the official listing showed it sold out when checked; regional availability can change. See the official case listing.
ABS model
The ABS prebuilt weighs about 606 g and is the sensible choice when portability, price or a lighter setup matters. It retains the v2’s Hall-effect system, Wootility, Lekker Tikken switches and 8 kHz capability, but does not include the aluminium model’s interchangeable mounts and selectable bottom-case damping.
What does true 8 kHz polling mean?
At 1 kHz, a keyboard reports to the computer about every 1 millisecond. At 8 kHz, the theoretical interval is approximately 0.125 milliseconds. Wooting says the v2 scans every key at the same 8 kHz rate and keeps the scan synchronized. In Wootility, Tachyon mode activates the highest-speed behavior.
That number is a reporting interval, not total end-to-end system latency. It does not make a player eight times more accurate, and the practical advantage depends on the game, display refresh rate, computer and player. Highly competitive players may value the smaller timing window; ordinary use and many games will feel much the same as 1 kHz.

- Cross-System Compatibility - Designed for macOS and Windows with dedicated media keys and extra keycaps, the K10 HE easily adapts to your workflow. Remap it to suit Linux systems as well, making it truly universal
Tachyon mode can reduce or disable RGB lighting as part of its optimization. If lighting is important, check the mode’s behavior rather than assuming 8 kHz is a free upgrade. Wooting’s explanation is in its comparison article; PC Gamer’s review also notes the lighting trade-off.
Lekker Tikken switch: what is actually new?
Lekker Tikken is Wooting’s new closed-bottom Hall-effect switch for the v2 prebuilt. It retains 4.0 mm of travel but is designed with tighter tolerances, less stem wobble and a 21 mm spring. Wooting describes firmer initial resistance, smoother weight buildup and a deeper, more muted sound than earlier Lekker designs.
- Travel: full 4.0 mm.
- Construction: closed bottom for tighter control and acoustic refinement.
- Spring: 21 mm, with a firmer initial feel.
- Intended improvements: stability, smoother motion and quieter, deeper sound.
This is an engineering and acoustic revision, not proof of a universally established “industry-first” category. The defensible description is Wooting’s new closed-bottom Hall-effect switch. Its main advantages are feel, stability and sound; the fundamental gaming benefits of magnetic sensing already existed in the 60HE and other Hall-effect keyboards.

Does the split-spacebar layout improve ergonomics?
The optional split layout replaces the normal long spacebar with several keys, creating additional programmable thumb positions. Wooting presents this as extra versatility; PC Gamer used the additional keys for functions such as Delete, arrows and other bindings.
Where it can help
- Extra thumb-accessible controls without moving the left hand from movement keys.
- More bindings for games with many actions.
- A potentially more comfortable arrangement for users who naturally favor one thumb.
- Useful productivity remaps on a compact board.
What to expect
- Replacement keycap sets must support the chosen ANSI or ISO split arrangement.
- People accustomed to a standard spacebar may need an adjustment period.
- Some games and applications will require remapping.
- The board still lacks dedicated arrows, function, navigation and Delete keys; split spacebars do not turn it into a larger layout.
It is therefore better described as an optional thumb-oriented layout that may improve ergonomics for some users, not as a universal ergonomic redesign.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why should it sound and feel different?
The acoustic change comes from several parts working together:
- FR4 switch plate instead of steel.
- High-density Poron sandwich layer.
- Silicone friction-fit pad.
- PET film beneath the switches.
- Pre-applied tape mod.
- Selectable bottom-case dampening on the aluminium version.
- Lekker Tikken switches.
Friction-fit mounting avoids the older tray-mounted construction, while the layered materials reduce unwanted resonance and add compliance. The immediately noticeable gains for many owners may therefore be stability, typing feel and sound rather than the change from 1 kHz to 8 kHz.

These are announced launch prices, not a guarantee of the current checkout price. Wooting announced aluminium prebuilt and module shipments from December 2025, a second batch in February 2026 and the plastic prebuilt for April 2026. Those dates are historical launch information, not stock guarantees.
Configurations include ANSI or ISO, traditional or split spacebar, ABS or aluminium, and black or bright-silver aluminium. The configuration page shows regional options. The official product page lists a 2 m USB-C-to-C cable, PBT keycaps on the standard prebuilt, pullers, spare switches, strap hardware and other accessories.
The module’s low headline price is easy to misread: it is not a usable keyboard until you add the required parts. Assembly is relatively straightforward, but it remains a custom-build project.
Wooting 60HE v2 or 60HE+: which should you buy?
Buy the aluminium prebuilt if
- You want a heavy, premium compact keyboard ready to use out of the box.
- Desk stability, acoustic tuning and enthusiast construction matter to you.
- You want split-spacebar support without sourcing and assembling components.
- You play highly competitive games and want the option of 8 kHz polling.
Choose the ABS version if
- You want the v2’s core Hall-effect features at a lower price.
- You prefer a lighter keyboard for moving between setups.
- You do not need aluminium-specific mounts or bottom-dampening choices.
Choose the module if
- You already have compatible 60% parts or want to select every component.
- You enjoy keyboard assembly and understand the additional cost.
Keep the 60HE+ if
- You are satisfied with its speed and 1 kHz performance.
- You do not need split spacebars, upgraded acoustics or an aluminium chassis.
- You prefer its existing layout, accessories and lower total cost.
- You are unlikely to notice the difference between 1 kHz and 8 kHz.
Wooting’s own comparison characterizes the performance gain as real but potentially incremental for most players. The v2’s stronger everyday case is its combination of construction, sound, stability and layout choices.

- Check the exact regional configuration: prices, stock, layouts and shipping restrictions vary.
- Confirm keycap compatibility: split ANSI and ISO layouts need the right spacebar sizes and modifiers.
- Budget for layers: a 60% board still relies on Fn layers or remapping for navigation keys.
- Decide whether Tachyon mode suits you: 8 kHz can come with reduced lighting behavior.
- Do not assume aluminium determines the sound: dampening, switches, keycaps and desk surface all matter.
Final verdict
The Wooting 60HE v2 is best viewed as a more polished, enthusiast-friendly 60HE. True 8 kHz polling is legitimate, but it is not a universal reason to upgrade from a 60HE+. The aluminium model earns its premium through rigidity, weight, mounting flexibility and acoustic options; the ABS model is the value choice; and the module suits experienced builders. Buy the v2 for the complete package of feel, sound, layout flexibility and Wooting’s mature Hall-effect software—not because a polling-rate number alone transforms every game.
