If you want to solve it yourself, read the hints below in order and stop before the spoiler break.
Wordle #1336 hints, from least to most revealing
The clues below move from general structure to meaning. Each one narrows the field without giving the word away, so you can stop as soon as you have enough to guess.
- Letter count and vowels: The answer is five letters long, with one vowel and four consonants.
- The vowel: The only vowel is I.
- Start and fourth letter: The word begins with D, and its fourth letter is T.
- Repeated letter: One letter appears twice, and that repeated letter is T. Wordle allows repeats, so do not assume every letter is unique.
- Meaning: The word describes a short verse or a simple tune.
Two reports on the puzzle described the same clue pattern. Xfire described the structure as consonant-vowel-consonant-consonant-consonant (CVCCC), noted that the word contains neither E, R, nor S, and warned that the double letter is a trap. PC Gamer’s February 14, 2025 article, written by Kerry Brunskill, gave the hint “A simple song or a short tune” and confirmed a double letter.
Spoiler break: the answer
Stop here if you still want to solve it.
The answer to Wordle #1336 on February 14, 2025 was DITTY. A ditty is a short verse or tune, which matches the meaning hint, and the word has the repeated T the structure clues point to.

How the color feedback works
Wordle gives you six rows of five boxes. After each guess, the tiles change color to show how close you are:
- Green: the letter is in the answer and in the correct position.
- Yellow: the letter is in the answer but in a different position.
- Dark (gray): the letter does not appear in the answer.
For a word with a repeated letter, the color rules still apply letter by letter, so a second copy of a letter may show dark even when the first copy is green or yellow. Use that to test whether a double letter is real before you spend another guess on it.

Source notes
The DITTY answer is confirmed by two secondary sources: Xfire’s archive coverage and PC Gamer’s dated answer guide from February 14, 2025. The official New York Times Wordle page for the puzzle was not accessible when this article was prepared, so the answer rests on these reports rather than the original archive. The puzzle is a 2025 archived entry; the current daily Wordle uses a different date and answer.
The hint wording in this article follows the clue structure reported by those sources. Other Wordle guides may phrase their hints differently, but they should arrive at the same five-letter word.
Why DITTY is a tricky answer
DITTY combines a common opening letter, a single vowel, and a double T, which makes it easy to misplace the repeat. Many players guess words with consonant clusters and forget that a letter can repeat, so the first two greens or yellows are often the clue that the answer contains two of the same letter. If you are stuck, test a guess that places T in two different positions, then use the dark letters to rule out the rest.
Wordle puzzles are chosen daily, so each number and date has one answer. Use the puzzle number and the date together when comparing hints from different sites.
