- The answer uses the same five letters as the previous day’s Wordle, rearranged.
- The word can describe a high or low level of risk.
- It can also mean a pointed post, including the wooden weapon associated with vampire hunters.
- It has two vowels, starts with a consonant, and contains no repeated letters.

The previous puzzle, #1163, was SKATE. Those letters rearrange to form STAKE, matching the first clue. WordFinder and Past Wordle both list STAKE for #1164 on August 26, 2024; Yahoo also published the answer and related clues.
