For Phase 8, Wowhead recommends Fury as the default level-60 Warrior PvE DPS specialization, with Bloodthirst builds its preferred direction. That is a specialist guide’s recommendation, not an official Blizzard ranking. Your weapon, gear, runes, encounter, and current patch still matter: Season of Discovery changes over time, so check that a build is current before using it.
Which Warrior DPS build should you choose in Phase 8?
Wowhead’s Patch 1.15.8 talent and rune reference labels its recommendations Phase 8 and favors Fury, specifically Bloodthirst builds. Its reasoning includes changes to Deep Wounds and greater availability of critical strike and attack power. These are the guide authors’ conclusions, not a Blizzard class ranking. See Wowhead’s Phase 8 Warrior talents and runes.
For dual-wield Fury, Icy Veins recommends combining Fury damage talents such as Death Wish and Flurry with Deep Wounds and Impale from the Arms tree. Its displayed rune choices are Single-Minded Fury, Consumed by Rage, Raging Blow, and Blood Surge. Treat this as a build reference to reconcile with your phase, patch, and weapon setup—not as a universal rune prescription. See Icy Veins’ Fury talent reference.
Fury dual wield
Start here if you are following the Phase 8 Fury recommendation and have suitable dual-wield weapons and gear. Icy Veins describes dual wield as the Fury-supported playstyle in its listed build. Weapon quality and progression are important enough that Wowhead warns that falling behind in gear hurts performance and recommends planning weapons rather than treating a single item as mandatory.

Fury with a two-handed weapon
Two-handed play has a different priority and depends on its own weapon, talent, and rune context. Wowhead’s overview includes a two-handed priority, but the existence of that list does not establish that it outperforms dual wield in every gear or encounter situation. Compare the actual build and weapon available to you.
Arms two-handed
Arms remains a viable alternative, not a build to dismiss outright. Icy Veins’ Arms reference lists Quick Strike, Frenzied Assault, Blood Frenzy, and Precise Timing among its recommended engravings. It emphasizes damage talents and Tactical Mastery for stance changes, while noting that Fury two-handed talents may be preferred at high gear levels, particularly with a Tier 2.5 two-piece bonus for Death Wish. These are conditional recommendations from a separate guide. See Icy Veins’ Arms talent reference.

How to decide between them
- Check phase and patch: do not carry a Phase 8 rune or talent setup into a different ruleset without checking its current validity.
- Match the weapon to the build: weapon availability and quality can change the practical choice.
- Account for gear and set bonuses: the Arms guide’s Tier 2.5 two-piece note is a specific example of gear changing the recommendation.
- Consider the encounter: single-target and cleave needs can affect what is useful; the cited guides do not establish a universal encounter-by-encounter winner.
- Factor in rage support: world buffs affect how freely the Wowhead overview says you can spend rage on Heroic Strike.
How should a Warrior handle the PvE rotation?
Use a priority system, not a rigid sequence. Your next action depends on rage, procs, movement, and build. Wowhead’s overview gives the following starting priorities; it does not make them a mathematically exact queue for every situation. Read Wowhead’s Warrior DPS overview.
Dual-wield priority
- Maintain Rend on single-target fights where appropriate.
- Use Slam when Blood Surge procs.
- Use Bloodthirst on cooldown.
- Spend rage on Heroic Strike according to how much rage you can spare.
- Use Whirlwind on cooldown.
- Use Overpower at lower priority, unless Rend is about to expire.
- Use Raging Blow and Hamstring as fillers after higher-priority abilities.
Two-handed priority
The overview similarly prioritizes maintaining Rend, Slam from Blood Surge, Bloodthirst, and Heroic Strike, with Overpower and Quick Strike lower in priority. Your actual decisions still depend on available rage, procs, movement, and the specific build; do not read the listed order as an inflexible rotation.

Spend rage according to your situation
Heroic Strike competes with other uses for rage. Wowhead notes that world-buffed rage availability changes how freely it can be used. If you are not playing with those buffs, spend more cautiously so that a queued attack does not leave you short of rage for a higher-priority ability.
Which stats and weapons should you prioritize?
Strength and hit
Wowhead’s DPS overview identifies Strength and Hit as leading stats and gives 6% as its soft hit cap reference. Treat 6% as that guide’s recommendation, not a universal gearing endpoint for every character or setup. The guide’s rationale is that missed attacks generate no rage, while dodged or parried attacks still generate some under its description; reliable hits therefore matter for both damage and resource flow.

Plan weapon progression
Weapon quality is central to Warrior damage, so plan how you will progress rather than assuming talents alone will compensate for weak weapons. Wowhead names the Grand Marshal’s Longsword as a Phase 8 main-hand option obtainable through ranking rather than raid attendance. It is an option, not a mandatory or universally best weapon: availability and suitability depend on your character and the phase.
The available guide references do not establish complete best-in-slot rankings by faction, raid, encounter, or gear level, nor simulated DPS comparisons between these builds. Choose from gear you can actually obtain rather than treating an unverified ranking as settled.

What professions and consumables does the guide recommend?
Wowhead recommends Engineering for damage and utility items and discusses Blacksmithing as a secondary crafting choice. It also lists these in-game consumables:
- Elemental Sharpening Stone
- Elixir of the Mongoose
- Elixir of Giants
- Elixir of Fortitude
- Elixir of Superior Defense
- Blessed Sunfruit
Check your group’s buffs before applying a sharpening stone: the overview warns that stones can interfere with Windfury. These are in-game choices, and their usefulness depends on your setup and circumstances.
How current are these recommendations?
The recommendations here are framed for Phase 8. Wowhead’s class pages identify Patch 1.15.8; Icy Veins’ Fury and Arms talent references were updated July 18, 2026. Season of Discovery’s phases and rules can change, so verify the current phase and patch—and the matching guide’s runes, talents, and gear advice—before copying a setup. Blizzard’s Phase 4 announcement described the earlier move to level 60 and new class runes and raid content; it provides historical context, not a ranking of Warrior builds.
