WoW: Forever has added “Kyle’s Gone Missing!” and its quest-giver, Ahab Wheathoof, according to GamesRadar. The quest’s return is a notable exception in a project described as preserving World of Warcraft’s original 2004-era experience: GamesRadar dates the quest’s first appearance to The Burning Crusade era in 2007. Its story is tied to Ezra “Ephoenix” Chatterton, a young fan whose Make-A-Wish request led to the quest.
What WoW: Forever added
GamesRadar reports that WoW: Forever added the quest “Kyle’s Gone Missing!” along with Ahab Wheathoof, after players asked for the content. In the quest, players help Ahab search for his dog, Kyle. The game is described in the report as focused on preserving the original 2004 World of Warcraft experience, while the quest itself dates to 2007, during The Burning Crusade era.
Principal game designer Johnny Cash said in a post dated October 2, 2026, as quoted by GamesRadar: “I had the honor and privilege of bringing ‘Kyle’s Gone Missing!’ into WoW: Forever.” Cash remembered Chatterton as “an enormous WoW fan” and wrote, “A tear was shed during this one, my friends. Rest in peace, Ezra.” The original social post was not independently retrieved; the statement here is attributed to GamesRadar’s rendering.
Where to find “Kyle’s Gone Missing!”
GamesRadar places Ahab Wheathoof in Bloodhoof Village, in Mulgore, and reports that players must be level 5 to start the quest. Bloodhoof Village is a starting area for Tauren characters. These location and level details are reported by GamesRadar; a first-party patch note or guide was not located.

The story behind Ahab Wheathoof and Kyle
GamesRadar reports that the quest grew out of a Make-A-Wish request by Ezra “Ephoenix” Chatterton, a young World of Warcraft fan diagnosed with brain cancer. According to the outlet, Chatterton helped create Kyle and created and voiced Ahab Wheathoof. GamesRadar says Chatterton died in 2008.
The available account is secondary reporting: searches for official Blizzard or Make-A-Wish confirmation returned no results. That distinction matters when describing the history—the personal connection and creative contributions are reported by GamesRadar, rather than independently established here through those organizations.

Why the return stands out
The quest connects a small in-game search for a dog with a specific player’s contribution to World of Warcraft. Its addition also sits slightly outside WoW: Forever’s reported 2004-era preservation focus: the quest first appeared years later, in 2007. Cash’s public remembrance frames the restoration not simply as adding older content, but as bringing back a piece associated with Chatterton.
