For this use case, check that a service offers an actual continuous loop, not just scheduled “simulive” events that start and stop at set times. Also compare the exact plan’s simultaneous stream allowance, storage, playlist and scheduling features, quality limits, destinations, and total recurring price including add-ons. These details can determine whether a seemingly suitable plan covers a round-the-clock channel.

How to choose the right replacement
Choose continuous looping or scheduled events
If the channel must remain live through the day and night, look for an explicit 24/7 or infinite-loop feature. A scheduled pre-recorded broadcast may be useful for premieres or timed programming, but it is not necessarily an always-on channel. Check whether continuous operation is included or sold as an add-on, and whether the feature is restricted to YouTube.
Check playlist behavior and operational limits
Confirm that the service supports the way you intend to program the channel: one repeating file, a playlist, or a schedule with transitions. Then check the plan’s stream count, file storage, maximum quality, destination support, and whether recording, a custom player, or monetization tools are included. Do not infer these limits from a headline plan name or price; compare the plan that actually enables the loop.

Weigh simplicity against control
A hosted playout service reduces the need to keep your own encoder or server online, but you rely on its workflow and destination configuration. Self-managed Wowza gives a technical team more control over protocols and processing, at the cost of operating the whole chain. No independently measured uptime or performance benchmark is established for the services listed here, so assess recovery behavior and support terms rather than assuming any provider guarantees uninterrupted delivery.
Prepare the YouTube channel and stream
- Confirm live access. YouTube requires a verified channel and no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. Review YouTube’s live-streaming start requirements before configuring a service.
- Set up the destination. In YouTube Studio, create or open the live stream and copy the live server URL and stream key into the provider or encoder’s YouTube destination settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send a stream to your channel. YouTube explains the encoder connection in its live encoder help.
- Test before relying on the loop. Confirm that the correct video or playlist is playing, the stream appears on the intended YouTube watch page, and recovery works as expected if the connection is interrupted. Monitor the provider’s status and YouTube’s live control room rather than assuming a successful initial start means the stream will remain healthy.
- Plan for archive limits. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be archived automatically; streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If preserving the live archive matters, keep your source files or a separate recording. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
Keep the stream stable and policy-compliant
Bandwidth and monitoring
For a locally encoded stream, YouTube recommends 20% upload bandwidth headroom above the stream’s total bitrate. Its streaming tips also advise testing, monitoring the stream, and checking local archive files: YouTube streaming tips. With cloud playout, the provider handles the outbound stream connection, but you still need to verify the destination, watch for service alerts, and understand how it responds if YouTube drops the stream.

You are responsible for having the rights needed to broadcast the videos, including applicable music rights. Review YouTube’s terms and resolve rights for every element in the playlist before scheduling it.
A continuous loop is not automatically prohibited, but a working stream does not guarantee monetization. YouTube’s July 15, 2025 clarification renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” and says mass-produced or repetitive content is not eligible for monetization; the policy applies to live streams as well.
