What did reviewers think of WWE 2K18?
Reviews in 2017 saw an uneven sequel: the presentation and range of creation options had appeal, but they did not resolve concerns about technical problems and familiar, underwhelming modes. In his October 19, 2017 review, Richard Wakeling of GameSpot wrote, “However, the game’s cosmetic advancements fail to cover up stagnant gameplay mired in technical issues.” GameSpot’s summary highlighted an impressive visual upgrade alongside glitches affecting match types and modes. GameSpot also criticized MyCareer as dull, along with weak writing and promos, and found the loot-box system restrictive. Those are that outlet’s review judgments, not a claim that every player will weigh the modes or progression the same way.

Metacritic’s figures, accessed October 8, 2026, show a 66 Metascore from 54 critic reviews, categorized as mixed or average. Its displayed critic breakdown is 22 positive reviews (41%), 28 mixed (52%) and four negative (7%). The user score is 5.7 from 194 ratings, also categorized as mixed or average. What did WWE 2K18 offer?
WWE’s October 17, 2017 launch coverage promoted a roster of more than 180 playable Superstars, matches with up to eight wrestlers on screen at once, a new graphics engine, and changes to MyCareer and Universe. These are the publisher’s launch claims; they describe the advertised scope, not independent evidence that each feature worked well in practice. WWE’s release and feature announcement.
Customization and roster breadth were among the game’s more attractive elements for reviewers. The key trade-off in the reviews is that a substantial lineup and visual refresh did not prevent technical issues or make every mode feel compelling.

Can you still play WWE 2K18 online?
No. The PlayStation Store notice says all WWE 2K18 multiplayer servers shut down on May 31, 2019, and server-dependent features no longer function. Is WWE 2K18 worth playing now?
It may suit someone interested in its roster, customization or offline wrestling modes, provided they are comfortable with an older game whose contemporary reviews were mixed. It is a poor fit if the main draw is online play or Road to Glory, since the servers have been shut down. The review evidence does not establish how every offline mode performs on current hardware, so a specific platform’s condition and compatibility should be checked before buying.

Which platforms and editions were released?
WWE announced releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on October 17, 2017; the Nintendo Switch version followed on December 6, 2017. WWE also documented physical copies and a WrestleMania Edition in selected markets. The WrestleMania Edition was not a universal release: its announcement covered select markets in Europe, Asia and Australia, and said it included previously released DLC at that time plus exclusive bonus items.
