WWE 2K25 adds Underground and Bloodline Rules matches, intergender bouts, returning Chain Wrestling, and new ways to damage ringside LED barricades. The Island’s platform availability changed after the initial reveal: it was first announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, then included in the Nintendo Switch 2 release.
What’s new in WWE 2K25’s matches and gameplay?
2K announced two new match types, broader intergender matchups, the return of Chain Wrestling, and additional ringside interactions. The official descriptions identify the new match formats but do not provide a complete rules breakdown, so their specific mechanics should not be assumed.

Underground and Bloodline Rules matches
Underground and Bloodline Rules are the two newly announced match types. They are presented as distinct formats, but 2K’s feature descriptions do not spell out all rules or conditions for either one. 2K’s gameplay announcement and the WWE 2K Support feature guide confirm the additions.
Intergender matches and Chain Wrestling
Men’s and women’s division Superstars can face one another in most game modes, and player-created Superstars are supported. Chain Wrestling also returns. “Most” is an important qualification: the announcement does not promise intergender matchups in every mode or scenario.

Ringside damage
Players can damage LED barricades and signs by sending opponents into them with dives, slams, or Irish whips. This adds interactive options around the ring rather than changing the basic match formats.
Which modes are in WWE 2K25?
The modes serve different play styles: historical match recreation, a social WWE-themed world, a custom-character story, management, card-based progression, and a player-directed sandbox.

2K Showcase: The Bloodline’s Dynasty
Hosted by Paul Heyman, Showcase focuses on The Bloodline and the wider Anoa’i wrestling family. Its structure goes beyond replaying historical matches: players can relive selected bouts, change some outcomes, and take part in fantasy matchups. The feature is described in 2K’s cover and feature announcement.
The Island
The Island is an interactive setting with districts, quests, challenges, live events, progression, and multiplayer interactions. It is the mode most dependent on platform and connectivity details: 2K’s original Island announcement named PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, while the later Switch 2 announcement also included the mode. Some online content requires an internet connection.

MyRISE, MyGM, MyFACTION, and Universe
MyRISE brings the men’s and women’s custom-Superstar paths into a unified storyline. MyGM emphasizes brand management and can be played online with up to four players. MyFACTION’s World Tour replaces Proving Grounds, adding a different route through its collectible-card mode. Universe is the sandbox option; its returning Promos include multiple promo types and branching outcomes.
Which platforms include WWE 2K25’s features?
The initial launch announcement covered PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Nintendo Switch 2 received a later release, and 2K said that version supports the full set of modes and match types, including The Island. Because The Island was initially announced only for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, use the later Switch 2 announcement when checking that platform’s feature set.
