The WWE 2K26 leak described a CM Punk-centered Showcase mode and a very large roster. 2K has since confirmed the Showcase as 2K Showcase: Punked and announced a roster of more than 400 playable characters. The two are not the same kind of evidence: the Showcase details were first circulated as unconfirmed claims, while the roster figure comes from 2K’s own announcement. This article separates the two and dates each one.
Timeline: what was reported first and what 2K confirmed later
The order of events matters here. A January 17, 2026 video from the Smacktalks channel discussed a CM Punk Showcase and other feature claims. The video itself stated that 2K had not confirmed them at that point. Official details followed in 2K Newsroom announcements.

Showcase mode: what 2K says Showcase: Punked contains
According to 2K’s February 10 report, Showcase: Punked is narrated by CM Punk. It blends real career milestones with alternate-history twists and fantasy “What if?” matches. It opens with the WrestleMania 41 triple-threat match between Punk, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns, then moves through matches from across Punk’s WWE career.
Career matches and alternate history
The report names several examples of the scenarios. Randy Orton is tied to WrestleMania 27, The Undertaker to WrestleMania 29, and Drew McIntyre to Bad Blood 2024. Players can revisit pivotal moments and change history. One scenario has Punk and AJ Lee facing The Miz and Maryse.

The pitch deliberately mixes what happened with what did not. Some outcomes and opponents are imagined, so the mode should be read as a fictionalized retrospective, not a documentary replay of Punk’s career.
Fantasy Warfare
Fantasy Warfare places Punk against performers he never faced in a WWE ring. 2K names “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Eddie Guerrero as examples. The original arena for these fantasy matches is called CM Punkvillion.
The optional Gauntlet
The Gauntlet is optional. The player chooses CM Punk or AJ Lee and faces all 20 Showcase opponents in succession. According to 2K, completing it unlocks every Showcase reward, including playable Legends, alternate attires, managers, championships, and arenas. These are the publisher’s stated mode details; they describe the design, not independent playtesting.

The roster: “more than 400” is 2K’s figure
The 400-plus number is the publisher’s claim. 2K describes it as the biggest roster in the franchise’s history. The sources consulted do not establish an independent count, so treat the figure as attributed to 2K rather than verified line by line. Likewise, “400+” is an approximate public figure, not an exact count.

The January 30 announcement’s examples span current talent from Raw, SmackDown, and NXT, along with Legends and Hall of Famers. Names it lists include:

Other official feature details
The January 30 announcement introduced four new match types: I Quit, Inferno, Three Stages of Hell, and Dumpster. 2K also highlighted stackable tables, shopping carts and thumbtacks as usable objects, larger interactive environments, and intergender matches in core modes.
The February 17 report covered Universe and Community Creations. It says the WWE Draft debuts in Universe mode, alongside a Universe Wizard and a Watch Show mode. It lists 200 Create-A-Superstar save slots and 2,000 Community Creations image slots. These are 2K’s announced feature counts.
Greg Thomas, President at Visual Concepts, said: “WWE 2K26 introduces several new community-requested match types and gameplay features.”

Editions, platforms, and launch prices
The January 30 announcement said the King of Kings, Attitude Era, and Monday Night War editions would release on March 6, 2026, seven days before the Standard Edition on March 13. Launch platforms named were PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
The March 6 launch notice gave these US launch prices. They are historical figures from that date, not current offers:

The launch notice describes different bundled content for each edition. For physical preorders, the Joe Hendry Pack was redeemed with an in-box code, while digital preorders received it in-game. That confirms a physical preorder path at launch; it does not establish current stock or what a retail copy contains today.
