WWE 2K26’s Ringside Pass has a free track and a paid Premium track, but buying Premium does not instantly unlock every reward: players still progress through tiers with Ringside Experience Points (RXP), unless they buy optional tier skips. That distinction helps explain the value complaint. How the Ringside Pass works
WWE 2K Support describes the Ringside Pass as a seasonal battle pass with a free track for every player and a Premium track that must be purchased. The support FAQ says the free track has about 60 rewards across 40 tiers, while both tracks together offer 120 rewards. These are 2K’s descriptions of the Pass structure, not independent counts.

Eligible matches earn RXP. Reaching a tier makes rewards on both tracks claimable, but a player must own Premium to claim Premium-track rewards. Buying Premium therefore grants access to that track; it does not, by itself, skip the progression needed to reach its tiers. Those restrictions matter when judging how quickly the Pass fits into a player’s normal routine: not every match or way of playing contributes.
Why the official explanation does not settle the value complaint
2K presented the Pass as an evolution of downloadable content: seasonal additions tied to gameplay, with playable characters not on the base roster alongside cosmetics and customization items, VC, and MyFACTION and The Island content. That explains the format’s intended appeal, but it does not resolve the trade-off for players who prefer to pay for content and use it immediately.
GamesRadar+ reported in March 2026 that players objected to the grind, including when Premium access or an expensive edition did not make every reward immediately usable. Its reviewer said they had played 30 hours during the review period and were barely past halfway through a 40-tier Pass. The outlet also relayed a YouTube creator’s estimate of about 40 hours to reach Tier 40 across several modes and dozens of matches. The same report describes a perceived loss of convenience: some free-track unlockables had previously been available through an in-game shop or booster-style purchases, while playable characters had historically been released as DLC packs rather than placed on a progression track. That is the outlet’s account of the criticism, not a universal rule confirmed by 2K for every past item or release.

So the disagreement is not simply whether rewards can be earned by playing. They can. It is whether access to the paid track is worth paying for when claiming its rewards still depends on tier progression, and whether optional paid skips improve or worsen that proposition. The sources do not provide a complete price-per-item comparison, or representative data on player sentiment, completion rates or average time to finish.
Which editions include Ringside Pass seasons?
2K’s launch announcement listed different season entitlements for the named editions. The support FAQ planned six Pass seasons for March, April, June, July, September and October 2026. A schedule is a plan, not confirmation that every season launched on time. 2K confirmed Season 5 was available on September 9, 2026, and said it was also included in the Monday Night War Edition’s Season Pass. Season 5’s Tier 1 character exception
2K said Season 5 Premium included Danhausen, Bam Bam Bigelow, Brie Bella and Pagano, and that all four could be claimed immediately at Tier 1. That is a useful counterexample to the idea that every character reward must be earned by climbing to a high tier. It does not change the general rule that other Premium rewards use tier progression and require ownership of the Premium track.

No. The FAQ says there is no way to unlock the entire Pass at once through the Premium purchase. Premium owners can buy optional tier skips, or earn RXP through eligible play and claim rewards as they advance.

Do older Ringside Passes expire?
No, according to the support FAQ: a Pass does not expire when a new season arrives. Players can put one Pass on hold, activate another, then return to the earlier one. This gives players flexibility across the planned seasons rather than requiring completion before a season ends.
Can family members share Premium on the same console?
The FAQ says family members using the same console can access purchased content, but each profile has separate progression. Sharing access does not combine tier progress between profiles.
Did 2K make a new statement that caused this backlash?
The available sources verify 2K’s official FAQ and its promotional explanation of the Pass, alongside reporting that players criticized its progression and value. They do not identify a discrete post-backlash corporate response or establish that a particular new explanation directly caused a renewed wave of anger. The title’s wording should not be read as proof of that sequence.
