What 2K has confirmed about The Island
An online, social mode
2K’s January 30, 2026 announcement describes The Island as bigger and more social than before, with a new storyline and environment, faction choice, and revamped progression. WWE 2K Support, in its “WWE 2K26: What’s New?” page (published January 8, 2026 and updated February 23, 2026), characterizes the mode as one of creativity, cooperation, and competition. That is a description of the mode’s intent. It is not a list of mechanics.

Three Orders for your Island Superstar
When you create a Superstar for The Island, you choose one of three Orders: Shadows, Anarchy, or Tradition. The Order is the faction choice 2K highlights in its announcement. The published materials do not say how the Orders interact with other players.
New environment, shops, and progression
The announced additions are:
- Scrapyard Brawl, a new environment within The Island.
- Towers, newly added to the mode.
- Shops and branded gear for customizing your Superstar.
- An expanded MySUPERSTAR builder, which supports importing a face photo.
- Upgraded quests with Superstar voiceovers, cutscenes, and dialogue screens.
What 2K has not confirmed about multiplayer
The official feature summary and announcement do not describe specific Island multiplayer formats. Nothing in the published material establishes:

- A named co-op mode or how co-op would work inside The Island.
- Party size or the number of players who can join one session.
- Friend invites or party setup.
- Any new competitive match type that exists only in The Island.
Two phrases are easy to over-read. “More social” and “creativity, cooperation, and competition” describe the mode’s direction, not a feature you can test. The match-type language in 2K’s February 2026 coverage also applies to the game overall. In a January 30, 2026 statement, Greg Thomas, President at Visual Concepts, said WWE 2K26 “introduces several new community-requested match types and gameplay features” and that the team is “expanding creative options to allow players more freedom than ever before.” That quote concerns the game’s match types and creative tools, not a multiplayer feature inside The Island.

The announcement says The Island is available on all platforms. Because it gives no platform-specific multiplayer details, you cannot use it to compare what online play looks like on PC versus a console.

The publisher also warns that the game includes optional in-game purchases and paid random items. Those purchases are not required to reach The Island’s confirmed content, based on the materials available.
