Yes, but only on select televisions. Xbox Cloud Gaming is rolling out during 2026 to supported Hisense models and other TVs using V homeOS (formerly VIDAA). You do not need an Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, or gaming PC, but you do need a compatible TV, a supported Bluetooth controller, reliable internet, and usually an Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate subscription.
Microsoft announced the Hisense and V homeOS partnership on January 5, 2026, then reported on July 30 that the Xbox app had begun rolling out to millions of VIDAA-powered TVs from model years 2024–2026. Availability is still gradual by model, region, and software version. Microsoft’s announcement and rollout update provide the latest status.
What “V” and Hisense support actually mean
V is the current branding for the platform formerly known as VIDAA; it is not the same thing as Vizio TV support. Xbox’s announcement refers to V homeOS-powered televisions and separately identifies select Hisense models. A Hisense television running Google TV, Roku TV, Fire TV, or another operating system does not qualify merely because the badge says Hisense.
Xbox’s TV page specifies select VIDAA OS televisions, including select Hisense sets running VIDAA OS 9.6 or later. The rollout announcement mentions supported TVs from model years 2024–2026, not every television made in those years. There is no complete public model-by-model list, so check the exact model and update eligibility with VIDAA support before subscribing or buying a TV. See Xbox’s current TV compatibility guidance.

Do you really need no Xbox console?
No console is required because the game runs on Microsoft’s servers and the TV receives an interactive video stream. The TV is a cloud-streaming endpoint, not a local Xbox: it cannot install Xbox games, play discs, run offline, or reproduce every console feature and accessory.
Your saves can follow you between supported devices when a game supports cloud saves. Most cloud-playable games require a paid Game Pass plan, although select free-to-play titles such as Fortnite can be streamed with a free Microsoft account in supported regions. Xbox’s cloud-gaming page lists current eligibility and regional conditions.
What you need before setup
- A supported Hisense or other VIDAA/V homeOS television running VIDAA OS 9.6 or newer.
- An Xbox/Microsoft account.
- A supported Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller.
- A reliable connection: Xbox’s TV guidance calls for wired Ethernet or 5-GHz Wi-Fi and 20 Mbps download speed.
- Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate for most games.
Xbox names the Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, PlayStation DualSense, and DualShock 4 as compatible examples. A generic Bluetooth gamepad may pair with the TV but is not guaranteed to work in the app.

How to install and play
- Open the television’s system-update menu and check for a VIDAA OS 9.6 update.
- Install the update, then restart the TV if prompted.
- Return to the Home Page or open the Games section in the menu bar.
- Launch the Xbox app when it appears.
- Sign in to an existing Xbox account or create one.
- Pair the controller through the TV’s Bluetooth settings.
- Choose a cloud-playable game and start streaming.
The app may appear automatically after an update, but rollout is expanding over time. An app missing today does not prove that a supported model will never receive it.
Which Game Pass plan is appropriate?
Xbox currently presents Essential, Premium, and Ultimate as its consumer cloud-gaming plans. The following are US price signals seen on Xbox pages around August 18, 2026; prices, taxes, promotions, benefits, and recurring-billing terms vary by country and account.

These counts are changing marketing figures, not a permanent library guarantee. Premium is the middle-cost choice for a broader catalog; Ultimate is aimed at players who value priority, day-one releases, and the largest selection. Essential is the lowest-cost paid entry. Check current cloud terms, the Game Pass purchase page, and the Essential listing before paying. PC Game Pass is not the plan identified for playing through the TV app.

Which games can you stream?
The playable library is a changing subset of Xbox games. A title can be absent because it is not cloud-enabled, is excluded from your plan, is unavailable in your region, has rotated out of Game Pass, or is offered for purchase rather than included in the subscription. Xbox also supports streaming some games you own separately, subject to availability.

Use the live Game Pass catalog instead of relying on a static “hundreds of games” claim. Selection, plan benefits, device support, and regional availability can change.
How good is the experience?
Xbox lists 20 Mbps down for TV use, but that is guidance rather than a guarantee. Latency, jitter, packet loss, router distance, household traffic, and the nearest cloud server can matter more than headline speed. Ethernet is preferable; otherwise use a strong 5-GHz signal near the router.

- Input lag can be noticeable, especially in competitive shooters and fighting games.
- Wait times and server availability vary, particularly between Game Pass tiers.

- Disc games, local downloads, offline play, and full local-console functionality are unavailable.
The setup suits occasional play and latency-tolerant genres such as role-playing, strategy, and many single-player games. A local Xbox remains the stronger choice for competitive play, offline access, physical media, and consistent high-end output.

The Xbox app is missing
- Confirm the exact model and operating system; a different Hisense TV OS is not equivalent to VIDAA.
- Run the TV’s system update and restart it.
- Check both the Home Page and Games section.
- Ask VIDAA support to confirm model-level compatibility through the route linked on Xbox’s TV page.
The controller will not pair
- Verify that it supports Bluetooth and has charge.
- Disconnect it from another device.
- Pair it from the TV’s Bluetooth settings.
- Try one of Xbox’s named controller families rather than an unverified generic pad.
Streaming stutters or looks blurry
- Switch to Ethernet or move the TV closer to the 5-GHz router signal.
- Pause large downloads and video streams elsewhere in the home.
- Restart the router and television.
- Test at a less congested time and compare with Xbox Cloud Gaming on another supported device.
A game is not listed
Check whether it is cloud-enabled, included in your plan, available in your region, still in Game Pass, or separately purchasable for streaming. The live catalog is the authoritative check.
Should you use this instead of buying an Xbox?
It is a good fit if you already own a recent supported TV, want occasional access without a large hardware purchase, have stable internet, and accept a controller plus recurring subscription. The practical cost is compatible TV already owned + controller + Game Pass + internet service; “without a console” does not mean free.

It is a poor fit if your TV is unsupported, you need the lowest latency, have unstable Wi-Fi or a data cap, expect every Xbox title, or want downloads, discs, offline play, and local 4K performance.

Xbox lists supported Samsung, LG, and Amazon Fire TV routes, as well as browser-compatible devices, on its official TV overview.
