Xbox’s US overview lists four plans, but the right value depends on the games and benefits you’ll actually use—and the recurring price shown for your account and region.
How the Xbox Game Pass plans compare
The figures below are the plan benefits Xbox lists in its US overview, captured on October 7, 2026. They are not independent counts; Xbox says game catalogues, features and availability can change by time, region, plan and platform. Check Xbox’s current plan overview for the latest details.

Which Xbox Game Pass plan should you get?
Choose Essential for basic console access
Essential is the entry-level fit if you want an included selection of games and online console multiplayer, but don’t need new releases on day one. Xbox lists 50+ games and 5 hours of cloud playtime per month for this plan. Look at the current catalogue for titles you actually want; the headline count alone doesn’t tell you whether the plan is worthwhile for you.

Choose Premium if you’re willing to wait
Premium suits players who want a broader listed catalogue than Essential and can wait for Xbox-published games. Xbox says those games join within one year of launch, rather than being available on day one through Premium. The overview lists 200+ games and 10 cloud-play hours per month.
Choose Ultimate if its extras replace spending you’d otherwise do
Ultimate brings the largest listed catalogue, day-one access to select games, 15 cloud-play hours per month, and EA Play, Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft+ Classics. It is a stronger fit when you’ll make use of several of those benefits. Compare the price for your account with what you would otherwise pay for the services or games you plan to use; Xbox does not publish an individualized savings calculation.

Choose PC Game Pass for PC-first play
PC Game Pass is the focused option if you play on PC and want its listed 300+ PC games, day-one access to select games and EA Play. Xbox labels it PC-only and does not include cloud gaming with this plan.
Is Game Pass Ultimate worth the extra cost?
It can be, if you’ll use its additional access and inclusions. Compare Ultimate with the less expensive plan you would otherwise choose, then count only benefits you expect to use: day-one access, the larger listed catalogue, its cloud-play allowance and the bundled services. A bundle is not automatically a saving if you would not have bought those services separately.

There is no reliable universal price verdict here: the Xbox overview captured for this comparison did not expose complete regular prices. An indexed Xbox comparison snapshot showed $22.99 per month for Ultimate, and a Premium offer of 14 days for $1 followed by $14.99 per month, but that partial snapshot is not a complete, independently verified current price list. Offers can be limited-time, region-specific and unavailable to some subscribers. Check Xbox’s plan comparison while signed in for the amount and terms that apply to you, including the recurring price after any promotion and applicable taxes.

- Your platform: Essential, Premium and Ultimate list online console multiplayer; PC Game Pass is marked PC-only. Cloud play requires a supported device and region. Xbox says supported devices are sold separately.
- The specific game: Catalogue titles and availability change by region, platform, plan and time. You have access only while your subscription is active and the title remains in the library. Cloud-playable titles outside the subscription may need to be purchased separately.
- Cloud-play limits: Xbox lists monthly hour allowances for Essential, Premium and Ultimate, but not PC Game Pass. Check the current regional terms and supported-device requirements if cloud play is central to your decision.
- Rewards: Xbox lists points multipliers for console plans, but Rewards vary by market, Rewards level and local currency. Terms and age restrictions apply; a multiplier is not a guaranteed cash value.
- Billing: Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled. Xbox directs subscribers to turn off recurring billing before the next billing date; review the account’s billing details so a promotional price does not surprise you when it ends.
