Xbox’s DOOM: The Dark Ages collection is three accessories—not a special-edition console: a standard wireless controller, an Elite Series 2 controller and a removable Xbox Series X wrap. Announced April 16, 2025, the products launched at U.S. prices of $79.99, $199.99 and $54.99, respectively. As of August 18, 2026, the standard controller remains listed by Xbox, the Elite design is offered through Design Lab, and the wrap is marked unavailable or sold out.
What Xbox revealed
The collection takes its look from the DOOM Slayer’s medieval armor and the world of DOOM: The Dark Ages. It consists of two controllers and a console wrap; Xbox did not announce a DOOM-branded Xbox Series X console. Xbox’s April 16, 2025 announcement introduced all three products.

The standard controller uses matte green armor styling with three-dimensional silver helmet spikes and silver-plated sheathing across the upper case. A rubberized, leather-like grip, red thumbstick inspired by the Slayer’s chest port, blood-splatter detail and green ABXY buttons based on the Sentinel alphabet complete the look; the design also incorporates runes and inscriptions.

It includes the DOOM Slayer Executioner Skin DLC for DOOM: The Dark Ages. The game itself is sold separately, so this is not a game bundle. The Xbox collection page identifies the included skin and separates the game from the accessory purchase: Xbox collection details.
What makes the Elite Series 2 different
The Elite is a separate controller platform, not simply the standard controller with a more elaborate shell. Its transparent red top case reveals silver internal components, while Elite Series 2 features provide interchangeable components, button remapping and customizable profiles through the Xbox Accessories app. The DOOM design is available through Xbox Design Lab.

That extra functionality makes the Elite the relevant choice for players who want configurable controls and will use them. If the main draw is the DOOM artwork, the standard controller costs less and has the included skin DLC.
The Series X wrap is not a DOOM console
The wrap changes the exterior of an existing Xbox Series X. Its dark-rock finish and red Slayer sigil evoke the game’s visual style, with Hell-inspired inscriptions on the inside. It is designed for all Xbox Series X models, including disc-drive and all-digital versions; it does not fit Xbox Series S.

The wrap uses solid panels and a high-tech fabric exterior secured by a Velcro enclosure. Installation requires no tools or adhesive, and a removable disc cover is included for disc-drive models. Launch dates and current availability
Xbox announced U.S. launch prices of $79.99 for the standard controller, $199.99 for the Elite Series 2 and $54.99 for the wrap. The standard controller and wrap were offered starting April 16, 2025, with early access for the standard controller through the Microsoft Store. Elite preorders opened April 16, with release scheduled for April 25, 2025. These are original launch terms, not a guarantee of present inventory.

At the August 18, 2026 check, Xbox’s accessories page listed the standard controller for $79.99 and showed it as available to add to cart. The Elite appeared through Design Lab with a $184.98 starting price, rather than the original $199.99 launch price. - For most DOOM fans: Choose the standard controller if you want the themed look for everyday play without paying for Elite controls. Its included Executioner Skin is an extra, but the game is separate.
- For customization-focused players: Choose the Elite Series 2 if interchangeable components, remapping and profiles are features you will use. Its current Design Lab starting price is not necessarily the final price of a configured controller.
- For Series X collectors: The wrap is the display-focused option, but official listings showed it unavailable or sold out on August 18, 2026. It does not add console performance and is not a substitute for a hard case.
The standard controller and wrap were separate products, so buying both was the way to pair the themed controller with the console’s matching exterior. The wrap’s current official sellout makes that combination dependent on whether it returns to stock.

Buying checks for the wrap or a reseller listing
If looking beyond Microsoft’s store for an unavailable wrap, verify the exact product and seller before paying. A listing may depict the collection while offering only one item.
- Check that the listing names the exact controller, Elite controller or Series X wrap you intend to buy.
- Confirm whether the item is new or opened, and review the seller’s reputation and return policy.
- For a standard controller, ask whether the DLC code is included and unused.
- For a wrap, check that the removable disc cover is included and that the product is genuinely Microsoft/Xbox branded.
Controller use is intended for Xbox and compatible devices, but features are not guaranteed to work identically everywhere. Xbox says Windows 10/11 connection requires Bluetooth, a compatible USB-C cable or an Xbox Wireless Adapter, with connection accessories sold separately; Android and iOS support depends on device and version, and some functionality may not be supported.
