Microsoft’s June 12, 2024 Xbox console update lets players show selected game artwork alongside a dynamic Home background and gives the console a way to remember up to 10 wireless networks. The Wi-Fi feature helps a console reconnect without repeated password entry; it is not a tool for viewing or sharing saved passwords.
Dynamic backgrounds can now appear with selected game art
Before this change, Xbox Home personalization made users choose between a dynamic background and rotating game artwork. The June 2024 update added an option to show selected game art while keeping a dynamic background.
- Open Settings > General > Personalization > My Background.
- Turn on Show selected game art.
This is a controlled display of selected artwork, not a promise that every installed game will appear. It also affects the Home screen: it does not give individual games new animated backgrounds or let users turn their own photos or videos into dynamic wallpapers.
Change the dynamic background color independently
The update also added a separate control for the dynamic background’s color. You can adjust it without changing your Xbox profile color, so the background’s appearance no longer has to follow that broader profile setting.

Xbox can remember up to 10 wireless networks
A console can remember up to 10 previously used Wi-Fi networks and reconnect to them without asking you to enter the password again. That can be useful if you move the console between familiar networks, such as home and a dorm room.
- Open Settings > General > Network settings.
- Select Manage wireless networks > Manage my networks.
- Choose a saved network to manage it or forget it.
“Password saving” does not mean password viewing
Microsoft describes the feature as remembering wireless networks for reconnection. Its announcement does not describe a way to reveal, export, or share a saved password, or to synchronize Wi-Fi credentials across consoles or Microsoft accounts.

Remembering a network also does not bypass its security or guarantee a connection. A changed password, router outage, weak signal, captive-portal sign-in, or network restrictions can still prevent access. The feature does not increase Wi-Fi speed or improve network performance.
If a saved network will not reconnect
If the router password or configuration has changed, remove the old entry and connect again with the current details:

- Go to Settings > General > Network settings > Manage wireless networks > Manage my networks.
- Select the affected network and forget or remove it.
- Scan for the network again and enter the current password.
- If it still fails, check that the router is online and the console has a usable signal. Then use the console’s network diagnostics and check for router restrictions or sign-in requirements.
These are practical recovery steps; Microsoft’s announcement confirms the saved-network management path but does not provide a full troubleshooting sequence. Forget networks you no longer use or trust, especially if the console is shared or moved between locations.
When the settings should appear
Microsoft announced the console update on June 12, 2024, and described it as rolling out. That is the announcement date, not necessarily the date every console received it. If a setting is missing, check for a system update and allow for rollout timing or differences in the console’s software. Microsoft’s announcement does not provide a model-by-model compatibility table, so exact menu availability should not be assumed identical across every Xbox generation.

This is the June 2024 update, not the June 2025 one
Microsoft published another Xbox June update on June 23, 2025, with a different set of features, including Copilot for Gaming testing, an aggregated PC gaming library, Game Hubs, and game-save improvements. Those are separate from the 2024 background and remembered-network changes.
