Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →For a music-focused YouTube stream in XSplit Broadcaster, set the selected YouTube output’s audio codec, bitrate, and format under Audio Encoding, then check each source’s audio routing so only the intended mix reaches the stream. “Audio-only” can mean a music stream with no camera; that is different from sending YouTube an ingest with no video signal. The XSplit documentation reviewed here does not confirm that a no-video-signal ingest is accepted, so use a suitable visual scene unless you have verified that workflow for your channel.
Set up the YouTube output in XSplit
- Enable YouTube Live for the channel. Follow the eligibility and enablement flow currently shown in YouTube Studio. XSplit’s YouTube Live guide, updated in 2025, describes channel verification and no live restriction in the preceding 90 days as prerequisites, and says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours. Treat those details as dated guidance and check the current Studio flow. XSplit’s YouTube Live guide explains the setup.
- Select the YouTube Live output. In Broadcaster, open Broadcast and configure or select the YouTube Live output. XSplit’s setup flow covers authorization and broadcast details such as title, description, category, privacy, and latency.
- Open the output properties and inspect Audio Encoding. XSplit exposes audio codec, bitrate, and format controls, but the available choices can depend on the selected service. Choose among the values actually shown for your YouTube output; do not assume every codec or format is available. See XSplit’s Output Plugin Properties documentation, updated June 25, 2026.
- Set the stream’s video mode as well. Audio bitrate is separate from video bitrate. Follow the platform’s applicable output guidance and account for resolution, frame rate, and available upload speed. XSplit notes that most streaming platforms require CBR when using x264; verify the current platform recommendation for your chosen mode rather than treating that general note as a YouTube-specific audio setting. See XSplit’s output settings guidance.
Route only the audio you intend to broadcast
Check the audio routing for each source in the scene—not just the output’s encoding settings. XSplit’s documented routing flow says sources default to System Sound; changing a source’s audio output to Stream Only routes it directly to the recording or stream. XSplit Support describes the effect this way: “By setting a source’s audio output to Stream Only, their sound will be routed directly to the recording or stream.” See Multitracking Your Audio (updated November 8, 2022).
- Identify the source carrying the music and choose the routing that fits your intended mix.
- Check whether system sound, microphones, or other audio sources are also active; mute or remove anything you do not want in the program mix.
- Listen to the complete mix in the preview or a private test. A source routed directly to the stream may not behave like audio you monitor locally, so verify what the audience will receive.
Use a visual scene if you mean “no camera”
A music-focused stream without camera footage is not necessarily an audio-only ingest: the stream can still carry a static image, visualizer, or other suitable scene. The XSplit material reviewed explains audio encoding and source routing but does not establish whether YouTube currently accepts an incoming live stream with no video signal. Do not assume that removing all video will work. If you want no camera, prepare a simple visual scene and confirm it appears in the YouTube preview before publishing.
Check the current XSplit audio interface
The exact mixer and audio controls can differ by Broadcaster version. XSplit’s May 2026 release notes identify Broadcaster 4.6.2605.2109 and say Presentation Sources became the default Audio Mode, while Default Speaker and Default Microphones are added by default to the Audio Mixer. They also note updated pre-stream dialogs for YouTube Live. If your screen differs from older instructions, check the version’s release notes: XSplit Broadcaster 4.6.2605.2109 release notes.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Verify the stream before making it public
- Start with a private or unlisted broadcast when practical.
- Check the YouTube preview for the intended visual scene and confirm that the music is audible.
- Listen for unwanted desktop alerts, application sounds, microphone input, clipping, or silence; adjust source routing and levels as needed.
- Confirm the title, category, privacy, and other broadcast details in the YouTube output before going public.
This verification is a prudent workflow, not a claim that YouTube requires a private test. If YouTube does not show the video preview, the available evidence here does not establish that an audio-only ingest will be accepted; use a visual scene or consult the current YouTube Live guidance.
Troubleshoot common audio-only setup problems
- The stream has no music: check that the music source is active and routed to the stream, then verify the selected output’s Audio Encoding options and the YouTube preview.
- Desktop sounds are audible: inspect System Sound and every active source in the mixer. Mute or reroute anything that is not part of the intended music mix.
- The codec or bitrate you expected is missing: available Audio Encoding choices may be restricted by the selected output or service. Use the values displayed for that output; do not substitute a guessed universal setting.
- The stream is unstable: review video resolution and frame rate, the platform’s current bitrate recommendations, and whether your upload connection has enough capacity. For x264, XSplit’s general advice is to use CBR where the platform requires it.
- You cannot start a YouTube broadcast: check the current channel eligibility and enablement status in YouTube Studio. XSplit’s 2025 guide says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours, but current platform behavior should be confirmed in Studio.
- There is no picture in the preview: if you intended a music stream without camera footage, add or select an appropriate visual scene. The reviewed sources do not confirm support for an ingest with no video signal.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a YouTube channel that plays uploaded music continuously, StreamNeo is an alternative to leaving XSplit and a computer running. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud. Nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams what you uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers or re-encoding. It can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required.
