If your YouTube 24/7 stream buffers on BSNL broadband, first check YouTube Live Control Room’s stream-health message and timestamp, then verify the encoder’s actual bitrate against sustained upload capacity. Compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet if possible. These checks can help separate encoder or local-network trouble from a possible provider-path issue; they do not establish that BSNL has a network-wide fault or that packet loss or jitter is the cause.
What to check while the stream is buffering
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. While the problem is happening, note the stream-health indicator, the exact error text and its timestamp. YouTube’s live dashboard checks the incoming stream and displays errors beside the health indicator. YouTube Help: Troubleshoot live stream errors.
- Check whether the local output is also affected. If the encoder preview or a local recording has the same glitches, inspect the source, encoder settings and computer load. If local output looks and sounds normal while YouTube reports an incoming-stream problem, focus next on the outbound connection.
- Record the conditions. Write down the time, encoder bitrate, resolution and frame rate, connection type (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), YouTube’s error text, and results from upload-focused network checks. A time-stamped record is more useful than a single speed-test result.
YouTube advises leaving upload capacity above the stream’s total bitrate: “Leave a bit of room (20% recommended).” The stream has to fit within available upload bandwidth, and other devices or services sharing the network can reduce what is available to it. YouTube Help: Streaming tips.
Check the encoder bitrate before blaming the connection
Read the settings actually selected in your streaming encoder; do not infer them from download speed or the quality label alone. For H.264 live ingestion, YouTube’s recommended settings include the following bitrates. They are recommendations, not a guarantee that a connection will sustain a stream under all conditions.

These are live-stream settings, not YouTube’s separate recommendations for uploading a prerecorded video. YouTube recommends keyframes every 2 seconds and says they should not exceed 4 seconds. Estimate the upload headroom you need
Use the total stream bitrate, including audio, and allow roughly 20% above it as YouTube recommends. For example, a 6 Mbps video bitrate needs more than 6 Mbps of available upload capacity once audio and headroom are accounted for. A speed test that briefly reaches a high number does not show whether the connection can sustain that capacity continuously.
Lower the demand if upload cannot sustain it
If repeated upload checks fall short of the configured total bitrate plus headroom, lower the encoder bitrate or select a lower resolution or frame rate. Apply one change at a time and repeat a representative test during the hours when the stream usually degrades. Do not rely on a short test at a quiet time as proof that a 24/7 stream will remain stable.

Compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection
If practical, connect the streaming computer directly to the router or ONT by Ethernet and compare it with Wi-Fi under similar conditions. A cable is a diagnostic aid, not a guaranteed fix for packet loss or jitter.

Test upload stability at the times it fails
Run an upload-focused network check while the stream is degraded, and repeat it at different times, including the usual failure window. Keep the timestamps and results alongside the configured bitrate and Live Control Room message. A single peak-speed result cannot establish continuous upload stability.

This evidence does not by itself measure or prove packet loss or upload jitter. The information available here does not establish a packet-loss test, a jitter threshold, or a BSNL-specific diagnosis. Avoid assigning a cause based on one test or a momentary buffer.
When and how to contact BSNL
If the stream remains unstable during a wired comparison, contact BSNL with the observations rather than assuming a provider-wide fault. BSNL lists 1800-4444 for Bharat Fiber and landline support. Its technical complaint form includes Bharat Fiber Voice and Broadband as a service type. BSNL.

Include your access type and plan, the time pattern, whether the test was wired or wireless, configured resolution and bitrate, exact YouTube error and timestamp, and repeated upload-check results. Ask BSNL to investigate the connection for those periods.
