If your YouTube devotional stream went offline while running from an Indian Linux VPS, check the server’s filesystem before changing the encoder: the disk or inodes may be exhausted, but the cause is not confirmed until you compare storage checks with encoder logs and YouTube’s timestamped stream-health messages. Restore service only after identifying what is consuming space and whether it must be kept.
Why did my YouTube live stream go offline?
A full filesystem can prevent an encoder from starting, writing temporary data, or recording logs. But an offline stream alone does not prove that disk exhaustion was the cause. The VPS distribution, disk layout, encoder, recording settings, and logs are unknown, so use this as a diagnostic path rather than assuming a particular incident or cleanup target.
First establish whether the stream is unavailable to everyone or only to some viewers. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance says that a report from one viewer may point to that viewer’s connection; reports from viewers on different connections can indicate an encoder problem. Compare those reports with Live Control Room metrics and the times of its health messages. YouTube: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream.
Correlate the time the stream stopped with the encoder’s own logs and the VPS’s storage state. If the encoder appears to be sending data but viewers still cannot watch, check outbound connectivity as well as server-side symptoms. A network or ingest problem can look different from an encoder that failed to write locally.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How do I check if my Linux VPS disk is full?
Check every mounted filesystem used by the encoder, not just the root filesystem. Find the paths the encoder uses for its working files, temporary files, logs, and any local recordings or archives. Commands below are general Linux diagnostic examples; check their options and output for the VPS’s distribution and configuration.
- Check free space in bytes: run
df -hto see filesystem capacity, used space, and available space in human-readable units. Inspect the mount containing each relevant path. - Check free inodes: run
df -i. A filesystem can run out of inodes—the entries needed to create files—even when its byte capacity does not appear full. - Inspect the relevant directories: use a targeted directory-usage check, such as
du -sh /path/to/relevant/directory, replacing the example path with the actual encoder, temporary, log, or archive directory. Do not treat one directory’s total as a full accounting of the filesystem. - Compare the results: if
dfreports substantially more usage than visible directory totals, investigate filesystem accounting and files that may still be held open by a process. Do not conclude that an apparently small directory is the sole cause.
Huawei Cloud’s troubleshooting example illustrates why these checks can disagree: it describes a filesystem with 89 MB total, 87 MB used, and 0 MB available, while du showed 5.9 MB for the inspected directory. That is an example, not a measurement of your VPS; the publication year was not stated in the retrieved result. Its guidance also calls attention to inode availability. Why does Linux say “No space left on device” when there seems to be space?
Check both free bytes and free inodes on the filesystem where the process is trying to create a file. If those checks do not explain the error, compare filesystem-wide usage with directory totals and investigate files held open after deletion. The exact cause depends on the VPS’s filesystem and running processes; do not remove active media or system files to make the numbers look better.
How do I free space without losing devotional media?
Identify what is consuming storage before reclaiming it. The right action depends on whether the data is disposable, required for a recording or archive, or part of the operating system or encoder.

- Apply the operator’s retention policy to generated files only after confirming they are no longer needed.
- For logs, use the relevant service’s supported rotation or truncation method. Avoid blindly deleting log files, especially while a process may still hold one open.
- If required recordings or other retained data use the space, consider the VPS provider’s documented capacity expansion or migration process instead of deleting those files.
- After making room, start the encoder through its normal service manager or control panel and inspect its fresh logs. The specific service name and restart command cannot be inferred without knowing the setup.
How do I confirm YouTube is receiving the stream again?
Once the encoder is running, check whether it is sending data and review Live Control Room’s timestamped health messages. YouTube recommends checking the encoder version, what the stream looks like in the encoder, encoder errors, CPU load, and outbound connection strength. Its error reference covers ingest format, bitrate, audio and video, keyframes, resolution, and matching primary and backup stream settings. YouTube encoder troubleshooting · YouTube live streaming error messages.
YouTube documents H.264 video and AAC audio among its ingest expectations. Its configuration guidance says to send keyframes every two seconds; at 30 frames per second, that means every 60 frames. Treat these as platform configuration checks, not evidence that a format or keyframe problem caused a disk-related outage. The health reference also identifies ingestion starvation and configuration issues. YouTube live streaming error messages · Google for Developers: LiveStreams.

If the encoder cannot start
If a third-party encoder reports a stream-start error, YouTube’s troubleshooting page advises generating a new stream key in Live Control Room and updating the encoder. This is a troubleshooting option for an encoder-start error; it does not establish that a full disk caused a stream-key failure. YouTube: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream.

How can I prevent another VPS storage outage?
- Monitor both available bytes and inodes on the mounts used by the encoder, temporary files, logs, and archives.
- Set alert thresholds based on the VPS’s observed capacity and growth rate; no universal threshold is established for this setup.
- Bound log and archive retention according to what you need to keep, and review how the encoder handles temporary files and local recordings.
- Track storage alongside encoder process health and YouTube stream status. Seeing all three helps distinguish a storage problem from an encoder, network, or ingest issue.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the recurring problem is keeping a computer or VPS available for a prerecorded devotional stream, StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. A slot streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. You can also use UPI in India; card checkout is available worldwide. This is for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed.
