That is not the same as an indefinitely repeating 24/7 loop: the available documentation does not establish automatic repeat scheduling. StreamYard is another option for scheduling a single prerecorded broadcast, with plan-based duration limits.
First decide what “rerun” means
These workflows are easy to confuse, but they solve different problems:
- Schedule one VOD: a prerecorded video begins as a YouTube live broadcast at a chosen date and time.
- Schedule a playlist: several videos play in a set order during one scheduled broadcast.
- Repeat continuously: the playlist starts over automatically, or the channel remains live around the clock.
Restream documents the first two workflows. Its playlist documentation does not establish that a playlist automatically repeats forever or that scheduling it creates uninterrupted 24/7 streaming. Confirm repeat behavior with the provider before paying if that is your main requirement.

How to schedule a VOD or playlist with Restream
Schedule a single prerecorded video
- Open Restream’s event setup and select YouTube as the destination.
- Choose the prerecorded video or file option, select or upload the VOD, and enter the event details: title, description, privacy setting, date, and time.
- Review whether you want a YouTube event post or announcement in advance, then schedule the broadcast. Check the event listing and share its link with viewers if you want them to plan ahead.
Schedule an ordered playlist
- Confirm that your Restream account has an Upload & Stream add-on tier that includes playlist use. The playlist documentation lists Marathon at $79/month, with 4 hours in the video library and a 1080p maximum, and Media at $239/month, with 12 hours in the video library and a 4K maximum. These vendor-listed prices and plan details were accessed on October 3, 2026, and may change.
- In Restream, create a playlist and select or upload the videos. Arrange their playback order, preview the output, and make sure the total playlist is no longer than 24 hours and contains no more than 40 entries. Entries can be duplicated.
- Schedule the playlist for YouTube and enter the event details, including its date and time. If you need an advance announcement, set up the YouTube event post and check that its visibility and share link are suitable.
- Check the playlist carefully before it starts. Once it is live, you cannot add, remove, or rearrange its videos. During playback, content edits are restricted to graphics and chat.
Restream documents a two-minute buffer between back-to-back playlists, which are separate streams. Do not treat that arrangement as a seamless uninterrupted broadcast.
What to know about YouTube duration and archives
YouTube’s duration policy and Restream’s playlist limit are separate constraints. Restream says YouTube has no stream-duration limit, but YouTube archives only streams shorter than 12 hours. Restream also notes possible server maintenance or restarts above 24 continuous hours and recommends restarting every 24 hours. Thus a playlist being permitted up to 24 hours does not mean a complete archive will be available, nor does it establish indefinite operation.
If a complete replay archive matters, plan the duration with YouTube’s under-12-hour archive condition in mind. If the goal is a continuous channel or an automatically repeating playlist, ask the service directly whether it supports recurring repeats and how restarts, gaps, and archives work before committing.

Gaming rights and YouTube live rules
YouTube identifies encoder streaming as an option for gameplay, including broadcasts using overlays and equipment such as microphones or cameras. A hosted prerecorded-file or playlist workflow is different: it does not require a gaming PC, capture card, or camera to remain online merely to play uploaded VODs.
Whichever workflow you use, live-stream content must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. That general rule does not establish that you have permission to rebroadcast a particular game, soundtrack, licensed music track, or other material in a VOD. Check the applicable game publisher and music rights before scheduling a rerun; no specific VOD’s rights can be determined from the general YouTube guidance.

Costs and practical checks before scheduling
Restream’s playlist feature requires a paid add-on, and its listed add-on plans include different video-library capacities and maximum output resolutions. StreamYard’s relevant limits vary by plan; check both the maximum video duration and how many prerecorded streams your plan lets you schedule concurrently. Plan labels and terms can change, so verify the current details with each provider before subscribing.

- Decide whether you need a YouTube event page and advance share link, or an always-on channel instead.
- Confirm what happens after playback ends, whether repeats are supported, and how service restarts affect gaps and archives.
- Review game and music permissions before airing the VOD.
Troubleshooting scheduled reruns
The playlist option is missing
Restream playlist use requires an Upload & Stream add-on tier. Check the account’s current plan and feature access before rebuilding the event.

The scheduled video is rejected or will not upload
Compare the file against the chosen service’s documented format, size, duration, library, and resolution limits. For StreamYard, the prerecorded-video documentation specifies MP4 with H.264 video at up to 10 Mbps, plan-specific file-size and duration caps, and up to 1080p on paid-plan broadcasts.
You need to change the playlist after it starts
Restream does not allow adding, removing, or rearranging playlist videos once it is live. Make sequence and membership changes before scheduling; during playback, only graphics and chat edits are documented.
The broadcast ends but does not start the playlist again
A scheduled playlist is not evidence of automatic repeat scheduling. Confirm looping and recurrence support directly with the provider. If you need an always-on YouTube stream from uploaded videos, use a service that explicitly provides cloud looping rather than assuming a one-time event will repeat.

The archive is shorter than expected or absent
YouTube archives only streams shorter than 12 hours according to Restream’s duration guidance. A longer live event may therefore not produce the complete YouTube archive you expected.
The stream has a gap between playlists
Restream documents back-to-back playlists as separate streams with a two-minute buffer. They are not a single seamless broadcast.
