Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Looping a video is not, by itself, evidence that it is disconnecting your YouTube Live stream. A loop setting repeats playback; an encoder-to-YouTube disconnect can instead involve the source, encoder, outbound connection, or ingest path. First note the exact time and error in YouTube Live Control Room, check the encoder’s connection and dropped-frame status, and compare the failure time with the video’s loop point. That evidence helps identify which part to troubleshoot.
First, identify what is disconnecting
While the stream is active, watch the encoder and YouTube Live Control Room together. Write down the timestamp and exact message before changing settings. YouTube displays stream health and timestamped errors, and distinguishes critical from moderate errors. YouTube’s stream-health guidance recommends using those messages to investigate the issue.
- Encoder reports a disconnect or dropped frames: investigate the encoder’s connection to YouTube’s ingest server and whether the connection can sustain the configured bitrate.
- Encoder stays connected but YouTube reports an error: use the exact Live Control Room message to guide the next check.
- Only one viewer reports a problem: the issue may be local to that viewer. If several affected viewers share a network, that network may be involved; reports from viewers on different connections can point toward the encoder.
These clues help localize a fault; none proves a cause on its own.
Check whether the failure matches the loop point
Note whether the encoder remains connected as the file ends and starts again. In OBS, a local Media Source can repeat a file with its Loop option, and a VLC Video source can loop a playlist. These controls govern media playback; their presence does not establish that a loop boundary should disconnect a live stream. OBS documents its media sources and playback controls.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- If the disconnect repeatedly occurs at the same point in the file, inspect the source and playback transition, and test with another representative file in a private or unlisted stream.
- If the timing varies or does not match the loop, prioritize the encoder’s connection evidence and YouTube’s stream-health message.
Treat repeatable timing as a lead, not a diagnosis. OBS’s Media Source documentation is dated January 11, 2022, so labels may differ in your installed version.
Troubleshoot the encoder and outbound connection
If you use OBS
Check OBS’s dropped-frame indicator and review the connection log around the timestamp. OBS says dropped frames indicate an unstable connection to the remote ingest server or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain; enough dropped frames can disconnect a stream. Its connection troubleshooting guide also discusses configuration, software, hardware, and network factors. OBS being your encoder does not, by itself, make it the cause.

Check source condition, encoder load, and internet connection
YouTube recommends updating encoder software, checking audio and video sources, reviewing encoder CPU load, and testing outbound internet quality. If the encoder’s local output looks and sounds healthy but YouTube reports poor stream health, investigate the outbound connection. If a connection test identifies an issue, YouTube recommends contacting your internet service provider. See YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance.
Verify settings for an RTMP or RTMPS encoder stream
For encoder streams using RTMP or RTMPS, compare your configuration with YouTube’s published recommendations. A mismatch is a possibility to check, not proof of the cause; let the actual stream-health error guide changes. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance recommends:

Change one thing at a time and test safely
- Record the encoder, software version, operating system, exact YouTube error, timestamp, and whether the encoder showed dropped frames or a disconnect.
- Use a private or unlisted test stream if appropriate. YouTube recommends testing to become comfortable with streaming.
- Change one relevant source or encoder setting, then observe whether the stream stays connected and whether the same loop-point timing recurs.
- Monitor stream health during the test. If you plan to rely on encoder failover, test it before an event: YouTube describes testing by stopping the primary encoder or unplugging its Ethernet cable. Do not use that procedure as a fix during a live event.
Separate a stream disconnect from viewer playback issues
Stream latency is the delay between capture and display. YouTube notes that lower latency can mean more playback buffering; buffering alone does not establish that the encoder disconnected. Likewise, a stream key is the credential and address information the encoder uses to send a feed to YouTube. Keep it private and do not share or publish it. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. These details are operational context, not diagnoses for a loop-related disconnect.
