Receiving a redirect is different: a channel of any size can receive one, subject to the destination channel’s permission settings.
Who can send a Live Redirect?
YouTube Help says creators sending a Live Redirect need more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. That means exactly 1,000 subscribers does not meet the published subscriber requirement. YouTube presents this as a general requirement; its Live Redirect page does not publish a separate threshold for India or a country-by-country availability list. For India-based channels, the published requirements therefore do not identify a different subscriber rule.

Can a channel with fewer than 1,000 subscribers receive a redirect?
Yes. The more-than-1,000-subscriber requirement applies to the channel sending viewers, not the destination channel. TeamYouTube says a channel of any size can receive Live Redirects. If the destination is another channel’s livestream, that channel must also permit the redirect through its YouTube Studio settings.

Sender and recipient requirements at a glance

How destination channels control redirects
A destination creator can configure which channels may redirect viewers in YouTube Studio. The documented choices include allowing channels they subscribe to, allowing all channels, or approving specific channels. The subscriptions option depends on the creator’s subscriptions being public. YouTube Help says the manual approval list can include up to 100 specific channels.
For another channel’s live stream, the recipient must have allowed the sender. A destination may be selectable when it is live or has an upcoming livestream or Premiere, provided the applicable permission conditions are met.

How to set up a Live Redirect in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Content, then the Live tab.
- Choose the livestream or Premiere that will send viewers, and open its editing controls.
- Open Customization, find the Redirect control, and select Add.
- Select an eligible Premiere or a permitted channel’s live stream as the destination.
- When the source livestream or Premiere ends, viewers are sent to the selected destination. Viewers who have autoplay disabled may need to press play.
The labels and controls can depend on feature access. If you meet the published sender rule but do not see the redirect control, check the current Studio controls and YouTube’s feature-access information: Learn about feature access for YouTube Creators.
Live Redirect eligibility is not livestream eligibility
The redirect sender threshold is separate from the requirements to start a livestream. YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance says an account must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Meeting those livestream prerequisites does not by itself satisfy the Live Redirect sender rule, and the redirect subscriber threshold is not a monetization or YouTube Partner Program requirement.

Troubleshooting: why the redirect option may be missing
- The sending channel has 1,000 subscribers or fewer: YouTube’s published sender rule requires more than 1,000 subscribers.
- The sending channel has a Community Guidelines strike: The published rule requires no such strikes.
- The destination is another channel’s livestream: Ask the destination creator to review redirect permissions in Studio. They may allow all channels, channels they subscribe to, or specific approved channels.
- The channel otherwise meets the published rule, but controls are not visible: Check the relevant video’s Studio editing and Customization controls and review YouTube’s feature-access page. The Live Redirect help page does not provide an India-specific availability table.
- Viewers do not move automatically after the source ends: Viewers with autoplay disabled may need to press play on the destination.
