Use CBR, set keyframes every two seconds, and choose AAC or MP3 audio. YouTube’s official guidance does not prescribe different encoder settings for Hindi videos or playlists.
Recommended 1080p60 encoder settings
YouTube’s encoder guidance gives different video bitrate recommendations according to the codec sending the stream. These are live-ingestion video bitrates, not upload-speed guarantees or settings from YouTube’s separate video-upload table. The figures below come from YouTube Help’s current guidance; the page does not state a publication year.

These codecs and figures are listed in YouTube Help’s live encoder settings. YouTube supports H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 for live encoding, up to 60 fps. The guidance does not declare one codec universally best: use one your encoder supports reliably, and apply that codec’s bitrate recommendation.
Resolution and frame rate
Set the source and encoder to 1080p at 60 fps if that is the format you intend to send. YouTube recommends automatic resolution and frame-rate detection by default. If you need to force a specific ingest resolution, create a custom stream key and enable “Turn on manual settings” under Stream Resolution in the Live Control Room.

Audio and color
- Use AAC or MP3 audio. YouTube lists 128 Kbps for stereo and 384 Kbps for 5.1 audio.
- For 5.1 over RTMP or RTMPS, YouTube supports AAC only.
- For SDR, use Rec. 709 color and 8-bit color depth.
Configure YouTube Live and your encoder
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. Create or select the stream, then use the stream URL and stream key shown in its settings. Enter both in your encoder: the URL tells it where to send the feed, and the key identifies the stream.
- Choose automatic or manual resolution. Leave detection automatic unless you need to force 1080p. To set it manually, use a custom stream key and enable “Turn on manual settings” under Stream Resolution.
- Set the encoder. Select 1080p at 60 fps, a supported codec, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval. Set the video bitrate to 12 Mbps for AV1/H.265 or 17 Mbps for H.264. Choose AAC or MP3 audio and configure the applicable audio bitrate.
- Use RTMP or RTMPS. YouTube recommends these ingestion protocols; RTMPS is the secure extension of RTMP.
- Test before the planned stream. YouTube Help says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” Test with audio and movement similar to the planned playlist, check that the connection sustains the selected total bitrate, and review stream health and any warnings.
- Monitor the stream while live. Watch stream health and messages in the Live Control Room. If the connection cannot sustain the bitrate reliably, resolve the bandwidth or encoder issue and test again rather than treating the listed minimum as a quality target.
YouTube’s guidance recommends testing and monitoring rather than treating a nominal internet speed as proof that a live stream will remain stable. The total stream bitrate must fit the available upload bandwidth.
Does a Hindi playlist need different settings?
No language-specific encoder setting is identified in YouTube’s English or Hindi guidance. Its Hindi encoder page presents the same 1080p60 bitrate recommendations and the same general protocol, codec, CBR, and keyframe guidance. The video language does not change the technical settings established by these pages.

Playlist order, titles, and other Studio choices are separate from encoder configuration. The cited encoder guidance does not prescribe playlist sequencing or content strategy.
Latency and stream-key safety
Latency is the delay between capture and playback. YouTube cautions that lower latency can increase viewer buffering, so balance the desire for faster interaction against playback reliability. Details are in YouTube’s live stream settings guidance.

The Live Control Room can reuse previous stream settings. If you think a stream key has been exposed, reset it using YouTube’s stream-key controls and update the encoder with the replacement key. Do not continue sending a feed with a key you believe is compromised.
Common setup problems
- Stream health reports instability: The connection may not sustain the total stream bitrate. Test upload capacity with representative audio and movement, check stream-health messages, and correct the connection or encoder configuration before relying on the stream.
- The stream is not arriving in the expected resolution: YouTube recommends automatic detection. If you need to force a resolution, make a custom stream key and enable “Turn on manual settings” under Stream Resolution.
- The encoder rejects the bitrate recommendation: Confirm which codec is selected. The recommended video bitrate is 12 Mbps for AV1/H.265 and 17 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p60; the minimums are not the recommended targets.
- Keyframe warnings appear: Set the keyframe interval to two seconds and do not exceed four seconds.
- The stream stops authenticating: Check that the encoder has the current stream URL and key. If the key was reset or exposed, replace the old key in the encoder.
- Viewers report buffering: Review stream health and connection stability. If you selected a lower-latency mode, consider whether the extra responsiveness is worth the potential increase in buffering.
