To stream a 25 fps pre-recorded playlist on YouTube Live, play the playlist through encoder or media-playback software and send that software’s live output to a YouTube event. Set the encoder to 25 fps when it supports it, use YouTube’s resolution-based live bitrate guidance as a reference (there is no 25 fps row), and test the playlist’s transitions and looping in the software that plays it.

How the playlist reaches YouTube Live

YouTube Live receives a live feed from an encoder. YouTube’s setup pages explain how to connect an encoder to a live event, but they do not provide controls for building, repeating, or looping a playlist. Those are handled by your chosen encoder or media-playback software.

The workflow is: create or schedule the event in YouTube Studio, give the encoder the event’s stream URL and key, play the playlist through the encoder, and check the incoming preview before broadcasting to viewers.

Choose the frame rate and video format

Keep the 25 fps cadence where possible

YouTube lists support for frame rates up to 60 fps. If the source is 25 fps and your encoder supports a 25 fps output, use it rather than changing cadence without a production reason. YouTube’s guidance to preserve a source’s recorded frame rate applies to uploads, not specifically to live ingest; matching the source for this live workflow is a practical continuity choice, not a separate YouTube live requirement.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Codec and connection

YouTube’s current live encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS with H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1. For a broadly compatible SDR setup, H.264 over RTMPS is a reasonable default if your encoder supports it. RTMPS is YouTube’s encrypted form of RTMP. Use the codec and settings your encoder can reliably produce.

Set bitrate, keyframes, and supporting video and audio options

Bitrate: use resolution as the guide, not a made-up 25 fps figure

YouTube’s live recommendations vary by codec, resolution, and frame-rate category. Its published H.264 table has 30 fps and 60 fps rows, but no 25 fps row. The figures below are the YouTube-published 30 fps reference points for 25 fps output, not official 25 fps recommendations. The help page does not state a publication date; these figures were accessed in 2026.

Output resolution YouTube H.264 reference at 30 fps How to use it for a 25 fps stream
1080p 5 Mbps minimum; 14 Mbps recommended Reference only; test your 25 fps output and monitor stream health.
720p 3 Mbps minimum; 8 Mbps recommended Reference only; test your 25 fps output and monitor stream health.

Choose the resolution that matches your intended output and select a stable encoder bitrate informed by the nearest published category. Make sure your upload connection has reliable capacity above the encoder bitrate; a connection that only just reaches the target can leave too little room for variation. Test with the actual playlist rather than assuming a table value guarantees a stable stream.

Keyframe interval and picture settings

  • Rate control: YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR).
  • Keyframes: YouTube recommends a two-second interval and says not to exceed four seconds.
  • Picture format: The live settings guidance recommends square pixels, progressive scan, two B-frames, one reference frame, and CABAC.
  • SDR: For standard dynamic range, YouTube recommends Rec. 709 and 8-bit SDR.

Encoder interfaces do not always use identical labels, and not every encoder exposes each setting. Follow the closest available controls and the encoder’s requirements rather than assuming a setting exists under the same name.

Audio

For RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube lists AAC or MP3 audio. Its guidance specifies 44.1 kHz for stereo and recommends 128 Kbps for stereo audio. Check that the playlist’s audio is present and at a consistent level in the encoder output before starting the public stream.

Connect the encoder and test playlist continuity

  1. Create or schedule the event: In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule the live stream.
  2. Copy the connection details: Copy the event’s stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room into the encoder’s streaming settings. YouTube describes the key as like a password and address for the encoder connection, so keep it private. If it is compromised, YouTube documents resetting it in Live Control Room.
  3. Load and inspect the playlist: Add the pre-recorded videos in the encoder or playback software. Check the entire output, including transitions, the end of the list, and whether it repeats as intended. YouTube’s setup pages do not document playlist controls, so verify these behaviors in the selected software.
  4. Run a representative test: Start a test stream and inspect the Live Control Room preview. Include movement and audio similar to the intended broadcast, then check stream health and any warnings. YouTube’s encoder guidance says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream. Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream.”
  5. Start the event only after the test is clean: Confirm the playlist is playing in the intended order and that the incoming preview and stream health are acceptable before you begin the viewer-facing broadcast.

Choose latency and DVR for a prerecorded broadcast

YouTube defines latency as the delay between capture at the encoder or camera and playback to viewers. Lower latency can mean more buffering. If viewers do not need real-time interaction with the prerecorded playlist, low latency may matter less than consistent playback. YouTube’s DVR option lets viewers pause, rewind, and resume during the live stream when enabled; decide whether that viewing behavior suits the broadcast.

Troubleshoot common problems

Symptom Likely check What to do
No incoming preview Stream URL, stream key, or encoder connection settings Confirm both values came from the intended Live Control Room event and were entered correctly. Treat the key as a credential; reset it in Live Control Room if exposed.
Stream health warnings or interruptions Encoder bitrate and available upload bandwidth Compare the output with YouTube’s resolution-based reference, ensure reliable upload capacity above the chosen bitrate, and test again while monitoring stream health.
Unexpected frame cadence Encoder output frame rate versus the 25 fps source Set 25 fps if the encoder supports it and check the resulting preview; avoid an unnecessary frame-rate conversion.
Playlist stops, skips, or does not repeat Playlist playback or repeat behavior in the encoder/media software Test the complete list, transitions, and end-of-list behavior in that software. YouTube’s connection setup does not configure looping.
Missing or unsuitable audio Encoder audio input, codec, sample rate, and stereo bitrate Confirm audio is reaching the encoder and compare available settings with YouTube’s RTMP/RTMPS guidance for AAC or MP3, 44.1 kHz stereo, and 128 Kbps stereo.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you would rather not keep a computer and encoder running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops the upload from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube.
