If you can’t go live after moving a YouTube channel, first make sure you have selected the moved channel, then check that channel’s live-stream eligibility and restrictions, and confirm your user role can manage live streams. YouTube’s published transfer instructions do not say that a Brand Account transfer automatically removes or resets live-stream access, so treat the timing as a clue—not a confirmed cause.
Check these three things first
- Select the intended channel. If your Google Account has several channels, switch to the channel that was transferred before checking its live settings. YouTube’s transfer workflow warns users to verify which channel is being moved and which destination channel may be replaced. See YouTube’s channel-transfer instructions.
- Check the channel’s live-stream eligibility and notices. YouTube’s published prerequisites include a verified channel and no live-stream restrictions within the past 90 days. Review YouTube Studio for the channel’s status, strikes, copyright notices, and any restriction or appeal instructions. See YouTube live streaming tips and guidance on live-stream restrictions.
- Check the role of the person trying to stream. An owner being able to stream does not mean every delegate can. YouTube lists Owner, Manager, and Editor among the roles that can manage live streams; Viewer roles cannot. Check the operator’s current role and how their access was granted.
Diagnose the problem by symptom
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| No one can stream from the channel | Channel verification, live-stream eligibility, restrictions, and any Studio notice. |
| The owner can stream, but a delegate cannot | The delegate’s current role and whether access is managed through Brand Account roles or YouTube Studio channel permissions. |
An API or streaming integration reports liveStreamingNotEnabled |
The channel’s live-stream setting and status. Google defines this error as the user not having enabled live streaming for the channel; channel settings may provide more detail. See YouTube Live Streaming API errors. |
| The problem began after a transfer, but eligibility and role look correct | The published transfer instructions do not identify an automatic live-access reset. Gather the channel URL or ID, transfer date, current Studio status or exact error text, and the operator’s role before escalating. |
Understand how transfers and channel permissions interact
A channel transfer and delegated channel permissions are separate account-management operations. YouTube says a channel may need to opt out of Studio channel permissions for a transfer, and the transfer instructions require removing existing Studio permission users before proceeding. Afterward, check which access system is active and whether the intended operator still has the appropriate access. See YouTube’s guidance on migrating from Brand Account user access to channel permissions.
The transfer instructions warn that selecting a destination already associated with another channel and replacing it can delete that destination channel and associated content, including videos, messages, playlists, history, and its verification badge. They do not say that the moved channel’s live-stream permission is cleared or must always be re-enabled. Do not assume that transfer alone explains a missing live option.
Check for restrictions before trying another channel
Live-stream restrictions can follow policy or copyright issues and may disable streaming temporarily or permanently. Read the notice in Studio and follow its appeal or resolution instructions. Do not try to get around an active restriction by streaming from another channel: YouTube says a restricted account is prohibited from using another channel to live stream on YouTube.

Rule out the daily stream-creation limit
If you have reached YouTube’s daily live-stream creation limit, YouTube says you can try again in 24 hours. This is a separate limit, not evidence that a channel transfer causes a 24-hour lockout.
When to escalate
If the channel appears eligible, there is no restriction notice, and the correct operator role is in place, contact YouTube support or use the Help Center troubleshooting options. Include the channel URL or ID, transfer date, the exact Studio status or error, and the operator’s current role. Public help pages cannot inspect your account or establish what changed in an individual transfer.
