Short answer: Microsoft and YouTube have genuinely offered three free months of PC Game Pass to eligible YouTube Premium subscribers. The promotion appeared in the United States in December 2021 and was promoted by Xbox again in March 2023, but a universal offer for every YouTube Premium member is not confirmed for August 2026. Check the Premium benefits hub on the Google account that holds your subscription; if the Game Pass card is not there, do not assume you qualify.
What the promotion is—and what it is not
The benefit is a promotional subscription to PC Game Pass, not permanent ownership of games and not automatically Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. PC Game Pass is principally for Windows PC gaming through the Xbox app. Depending on the plan and region, it generally includes a rotating catalog of downloadable games, selected Xbox first-party releases, EA Play benefits where included, and member discounts.
The catalog changes. A game can leave while your three-month period is running, and installed games normally stop working when the subscription ends or a title leaves the service unless you buy it separately. Downloaded games, downloadable content, expansions and premium editions are not converted into owned copies by the trial.
PC Game Pass should not be confused with Ultimate, which is a broader tier that may include console and cloud benefits under current regional terms. A PC Game Pass code does not promise console access or cloud gaming.

Xbox’s official promotional video directed members to YouTube’s benefits area: Xbox’s YouTube Premium promotion. The original promotion was reported on December 10, 2021, as a U.S.-only offer distributed to subscribers, with a credit card required: Tech Times’ contemporary report.
Is it still available in August 2026?
There is no verified evidence here of a live, universal campaign for all YouTube Premium members on August 18, 2026. Some 2026 articles describe a promotion, but they do not link to a current official Microsoft or YouTube terms page establishing its dates, countries or universal eligibility. Treat the offer as account- and promotion-dependent.

Your own benefits page is the practical test. Sign in with the Google account that pays for YouTube Premium and look for a PC Game Pass card, claim button or redemption link. If it is absent, the campaign may have expired, be targeted, exclude your plan or region, or already have been claimed.
Who can qualify?
Eligibility has two separate checks: YouTube determines whether your account receives the perk, while Microsoft determines whether the Microsoft account can redeem Game Pass.

- An active YouTube Premium membership and a participating country or billing arrangement may be required.
- The Microsoft account may need to be new to Game Pass or eligible for a trial. Existing or former PC Game Pass or Ultimate subscribers, and people who redeemed similar trials, may be rejected.
- A payment method may be required, as it was in the reported 2021 U.S. promotion.
- The offer must be redeemed before the deadline displayed in your account.
Do not assume that every member of a family plan receives a code. The perk may attach to the individual account that sees it, the family-plan manager, or a particular billing arrangement. Each relevant account must check its own benefits page. Details reported by secondary 2026 coverage should be treated as conditions of the displayed offer, not universal Microsoft policy: TechBloat’s report and Position Is Everything’s report.
How to check and redeem the benefit
- Sign in to YouTube with the Google account that holds the Premium membership.
- Open the account’s Premium benefits, member hub or perks area.
- Select the PC Game Pass offer if it appears, then follow its redemption link or copy the supplied code.
- Sign in to the Microsoft account that should receive the subscription. Check the account name carefully before accepting anything.
- Read the eligibility result, expiration date, renewal date, displayed price, taxes and billing terms.
- Add a payment method if the redemption page requires one.
- Confirm the redemption.
- Install or open the Xbox app for Windows and sign in with that same Microsoft account.
The subscription is attached to the Microsoft account used during redemption. A code generally cannot be moved later, so do not confirm while signed into a work, child or secondary account by mistake.

What PC Game Pass is useful for
- Broad sampling: play multiple included Windows games during the promotional period instead of buying each one.
- Microsoft releases: selected first-party titles can be available in the PC catalog, subject to the current catalog.
- EA Play: included where the applicable PC plan and region provide it.
- Discounts: members can receive discounts on selected games and add-ons.
You need a compatible Windows PC, enough storage and hardware that meets each game’s requirements. PC Game Pass is principally a Windows offering; Mac and Linux users should not assume the ordinary Xbox app and native catalog will work without separate compatibility arrangements.

Promotional Game Pass periods commonly convert to paid recurring subscriptions unless recurring billing is disabled. The price varies by country and can change, so do not rely on an old article’s figure. Before activating, record the checkout screen’s renewal date, monthly price, taxes and payment method.

Troubleshooting common failures
| Problem | Likely explanations and next check |
|---|---|
| The offer is missing | It may be expired, targeted, region-limited, excluded by your plan or billing partner, already claimed, or hidden because you are using the wrong Google account. |
| Microsoft rejects the code | The Microsoft account may have Game Pass history, an active plan, an incompatible region, an expired or already redeemed code, or an account-specific restriction. |
| Payment method fails | Use a payment method accepted in your billing country and recheck that the Microsoft account region matches the promotion. |
| A family member cannot find it | Family-plan access is not automatically shared. Have that person check the benefits page for their own account. |
| You redeemed on the wrong account | Stop before confirming if possible. After redemption, the subscription, saves, purchases and Xbox identity remain tied to that Microsoft account; support may be the only remedy. |
| You expected console or cloud play | Verify the product name. This promotion is for PC Game Pass, not automatically Ultimate, console Game Pass or cloud gaming. |
Is the offer worth claiming?
It is a strong short-term value if the card appears in your official hub, you have a capable Windows PC, and you expect to play several included games. It is less compelling if you mainly play on a console, use only a Mac or Linux computer, lack storage, want cloud gaming, or intend to play one title that may cost less to purchase outright.
Buying a game individually provides a permanent entitlement to that purchase under the relevant store’s terms and avoids recurring billing, but it offers less breadth. Do not subscribe to YouTube Premium solely to chase an unverified promotion; first confirm that the Game Pass perk is actually visible on your account.
For official product information, see PC Game Pass, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, YouTube Premium and the Xbox app for PC.
The Bottom Line
The three-month PC Game Pass benefit is genuine historically, but “all YouTube Premium members” is not a safe current claim. Check your own Premium benefits hub, then rely on Microsoft’s redemption screen for eligibility, expiration and renewal terms.
