Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf your encoder cannot publish to YouTube Live from a Hostinger VPS in India, the error alone does not show that India or Hostinger is blocking the stream. First copy the current RTMPS URL and stream key from YouTube Studio, check that your encoder supports RTMPS over TLS on port 443, and then test the outbound connection from the VPS itself. The exact error and timestamped logs determine which branch to investigate.
Identify where publishing fails
Before changing settings, record what happens and where it stops. A TLS or certificate error, a timeout, a key or startup error, and a connection that establishes but delivers an unhealthy feed point to different checks.
- Write down the encoder name and version, the UTC time of the failure, and the complete relevant log lines.
- Record the destination hostname and port, but redact the stream key. Do not include a real key in screenshots, support tickets, or shared logs.
- Note whether the key was recently reset, whether another network path was tried, and whether the encoder reports a healthy output.
- Separate local preview from delivery: an encoder can show a normal preview without YouTube receiving the stream.
Copy the current YouTube RTMPS URL and key
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and go to Stream settings.
- Copy the current RTMPS URL supplied by YouTube. YouTube may display a normal RTMP URL by default; use its lock control to reveal the RTMPS URL.
- Copy the stream key separately and paste it into the encoder’s stream-key field. Keep the server URL and key in their respective fields.
- If the encoder reports a startup or key error, refresh the key in Live Control Room and copy the current value into the encoder again.
Do not rely on an old saved endpoint or a guessed URL. Copy the endpoint exactly; simply changing rtmp to rtmps on an assumed address is not a reliable substitute.
Verify RTMPS, TLS, port, and SNI
RTMPS is RTMP carried over TLS. Google’s ingestion guidance requires a connection to port 443 on the ingestion server and says the hostname is needed for authentication through Server Name Indication (SNI). The endpoint, transport, and TLS handshake must all agree.
#1 Best Overall
- Confirm the URL uses the
rtmpsscheme and is the exact URL copied from Live Control Room. - Confirm the encoder connects over TCP port
443, rather than sending cleartext RTMP or using a different port. - Check that the encoder supports RTMPS and that its TLS implementation sends the ingestion hostname as SNI. This matters especially for custom encoder implementations.
- For a certificate or SSL error, verify the URL, port, TLS mode, and SNI before assuming the certificate itself is defective.
A host can be reachable while the publishing handshake still fails. A generic HTTPS check does not establish that the encoder’s specific TLS/SNI and RTMPS exchange succeeds.
Check the encoder and stream key
- Update the encoder to a current version that supports RTMPS.
- Refresh and re-copy the stream key if YouTube reports a startup or authentication problem.
- Inspect the encoder’s output status, logs, and CPU load while it attempts to publish.
- If one encoder continues to fail, YouTube recommends trying a different encoder to help isolate whether the problem is software-specific.
If the connection establishes but YouTube rejects the stream or reports an unhealthy feed, use the exact encoder error and YouTube dashboard diagnostics to investigate the stream configuration and key. Without those details, the cause cannot be identified from the symptom alone.

Test outbound connectivity from the actual VPS
Run connection checks on the Hostinger VPS, not just on your laptop. Test DNS resolution and TCP/TLS connectivity to the exact current ingestion hostname on port 443 while the encoder is attempting to publish. Record the commands or test output, UTC timestamp, destination hostname and port, and VPS source IP. Do not include the stream key.
Interpret the result narrowly: DNS resolution and a successful TCP connection show basic reachability, not that the encoder completed YouTube’s RTMPS publishing handshake. Compare the connection test with the encoder logs and error at the same time.

- From the VPS, check that the hostname resolves and that outbound TCP/TLS to port 443 can be established.
- If the test times out, inspect the VPS’s active local firewall rules and Hostinger VPS firewall controls.
- If the endpoint and encoder settings are correct but the VPS-originated connection still fails, send Hostinger the UTC timestamps, destination hostname and port, source VPS IP, connection-test output, and relevant encoder logs. Ask them to investigate the instance’s outbound route, firewall or egress policy, and any network event.
What Hostinger’s port guidance does—and does not—establish
Hostinger’s general port guidance says outgoing ports on its servers are open except ports 0 and 25, and distinguishes fixed port settings on Web and Cloud hosting from VPS hosting, where users have more port control. It does not document the firewall configuration or route for a particular India VPS instance. It therefore does not prove that port 443 is open on your VPS, nor does it establish that Hostinger blocks YouTube RTMPS from India. The instance-specific answer requires a test from that server or confirmation from Hostinger.
Choose the next check from the error
| Error or evidence | Most useful next check | Do not conclude |
|---|---|---|
| SSL or certificate error | Exact Studio RTMPS URL, port 443, TLS mode, and SNI for a custom client. | That the certificate itself is defective before protocol and port are verified. |
| Connection timeout | Confirm the endpoint and RTMPS support, then test outbound reachability from the VPS and inspect firewall/provider policy. | That India routing or a Hostinger block is the cause based on a timeout alone. |
| Encoder startup or key error | Refresh and re-copy the key; update the encoder. | That the key is safe to share in diagnostics. |
| Encoder reports healthy output, but YouTube receives nothing or the stream degrades | Test VPS outbound connectivity and inspect encoder logs and load. | That a healthy local preview proves successful delivery. |
| Connection established, but YouTube rejects the stream or marks it unhealthy | Check the exact encoder and YouTube errors, stream configuration, key, and dashboard diagnostics. | A specific cause without the actual error and logs. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a 24/7 YouTube stream from uploaded videos, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option rather than a fix for the VPS network path. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploads stream as made, up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos to YouTube, not camera broadcasts. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
