A YouTube channel-permission change does not, by itself, appear in YouTube’s public guidance as a reason a stream key is automatically invalidated. Check channel access and key status separately: confirm the right channel and live-stream permissions, then copy the current key from YouTube Studio into your encoder. If you reset the key, replace the old one in the encoder.
First, separate a permission problem from a key problem
A stream key is the credential your encoder uses to send a feed to YouTube. YouTube Help describes it this way: “Stream keys are like your YouTube stream’s password and address. They tell your encoder where to send your feed and let YouTube accept it.” The key is managed in Live Control Room. YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings
Live access is a separate check. Google’s API documentation has a distinct livePermissionBlocked error for insufficient live permission. That means a permission issue can prevent a broadcast even when the key itself is current. YouTube’s published guidance does not say that changing channel permissions automatically rotates or invalidates the key. Google for Developers: YouTube Live Streaming API errors
Work through these checks in order

Confirm the account and channel
Check which Google account is signed in, which channel is selected in YouTube Studio, and which channel your encoder is meant to broadcast to. If the account’s access changed, ask a channel owner or manager to confirm that the connected account still has the live-stream access needed for the task. Do not assume that access to some channel features also grants access to stream settings.

Check whether the channel is eligible to go live
YouTube’s general requirements say a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days. A new key cannot remove an eligibility restriction. Review YouTube’s current eligibility guidance: Get started with live streaming.

Copy the current key into the encoder
In YouTube Studio, go to Create → Go Live → Stream, find Stream key, and copy the key for the intended channel. Paste it into the encoder’s stream-key field, replacing any value saved there, then save the encoder’s settings. Treat the key as a password: do not post or share it publicly. Reset only if refreshing the saved key is not enough
If you choose Reset for the stream key in Live Control Room, YouTube generates a replacement. Immediately update the encoder with that new key; the old saved value will not become the replacement automatically. YouTube’s role guidance identifies owners and managers as able to reset keys, while editors and viewers cannot. If you are a delegated operator without that permission, ask an owner or manager to do the reset. Role access can vary by task, so verify the current permissions in YouTube Studio. Identify whether the encoder uses a key or direct sign-in
Some third-party software connects through YouTube sign-in instead of a manually entered stream key. If you signed into YouTube inside the software and do not use a key, YouTube directs users to contact that software’s support team. If the encoder has a stream-key field, this is a key-based workflow: copy the current key from Live Control Room and update that field. YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings

Check the encoder and the outgoing connection
Save the encoder settings, confirm the encoder is sending a feed, and check whether YouTube’s Live Control Room receives it. If the encoder appears to be outputting correctly but YouTube receives nothing, test the outbound internet connection and review YouTube’s troubleshooting steps. Escalate with the exact error
If the account has live access, the channel is eligible, the encoder has the current key, and the connection appears sound, record the exact error message and whether YouTube receives any feed. Use YouTube’s live-stream support route for a key-based encoder problem. If the software uses direct YouTube sign-in, contact the encoder vendor.

What the error can tell you
livePermissionBlocked: This API error indicates insufficient live permission. Recheck account access and channel selection rather than assuming that replacing the key alone will solve it. Google for Developers: API errors- The encoder reports an invalid or rejected key: Check for a stale key, a key copied from a different channel, or a reset that was not followed by an encoder update.
- The encoder shows output, but Live Control Room does not receive it: Check the encoder’s saved settings and outbound connection, then follow YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance. YouTube live-stream troubleshooting
- The channel cannot go live at all: Check verification and restrictions; YouTube’s general rule includes no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube live-stream eligibility
