In 2026, it makes sense mainly as a cheap used upgrade for a PC that needs a short, bus-powered graphics card; its 2 GB of memory and dated performance make it a poor choice for modern demanding games or inflated asking prices.
Which Zotac GTX 1050 is this?
Hardware Secrets reviewed Zotac’s standard GeForce GTX 1050 Mini, model ZT-P10500A-10L, in an article originally published in 2016. The review’s broad title can be misleading: Zotac also sold distinct OC and Low Profile GTX 1050 models. The Mini reviewed here is the standard-clock, full-height card. Zotac lists its dimensions as 144.78 × 111.15 mm. It is short, but it is not a low-profile card.
The separate GTX 1050 OC has different clocks, while the GTX 1050 Low Profile is designed for slim cases and uses a different cooler and bracket configuration. Check the model number and bracket before buying, especially for an office PC.

Specifications are from Zotac’s product page and the Hardware Secrets review. The short length can help in a cramped tower, but the dual-slot cooler still needs room and may cover an adjacent slot. Its DisplayPort, HDMI, and DVI connections offer options for newer and older monitors; confirm that the specific cable or adapter supports the monitor’s resolution and refresh rate.

Installation: low power does not mean universal compatibility
Not needing a six-pin power cable made the GTX 1050 Mini attractive for prebuilt PCs with modest power supplies. Zotac’s 300 W figure is a recommendation, not a guarantee that every nominally 300 W OEM supply is suitable. PSU quality, age, 12 V capability, system configuration, and the computer maker’s restrictions all matter.
- Check the PSU label, manufacturer guidance, and available 12 V output.
- Confirm the case accepts a full-height, dual-slot card and has at least 145 mm of card clearance.
- Check that the PCIe slot is functional and that the system firmware can initialize the card. Some OEM systems have configuration or chassis restrictions.
- Make sure airflow is adequate and the fan can spin freely; a compact single-fan cooler has less room to dissipate heat than a larger design.
Zotac’s product page lists DirectX 12 feature level 12_1, OpenGL 4.5, and Windows 10, 8, and 7 support as period specifications. These do not guarantee compatibility with every current game or operating-system setup. Likewise, Notebookcheck reported that Zotac supplied its FireStorm utility for monitoring, fan control, and overclocking profiles at the time; that is not a promise of current software availability.
What the 2016 reviews found
Hardware Secrets compared the GTX 1050 with a Gigabyte GTX 950, an XFX Radeon RX 460 4 GB, and a reference GTX 750 Ti. Its launch-period price comparison was approximately $110 for the GTX 1050, $135 for the GTX 950, $140 for the RX 460, and $100 for the GTX 750 Ti. These were historical prices gathered for the original review, not current market values. The review positioned the GTX 1050 as a strong budget option at launch, particularly for systems that could not support a card with an auxiliary power connector.
Notebookcheck’s historical test system used an Intel Core i7-4790K, 16 GB of DDR3, Windows 10 64-bit, and GeForce driver 376.33. It reported about 42.6 fps in Battlefield 1, 35.4 fps in Watch Dogs 2, and 24.3 fps in Mass Effect: Andromeda, each at 1920×1080 with the High preset. In Notebookcheck’s overall comparison, the GTX 1050 2 GB was roughly 23% behind the GTX 1050 Ti, with differences varying by game. These archival results are not predictions for a current PC: CPU, driver, game update, graphics API, settings, and memory configuration can all change outcomes.

- Super Compact 8.3-Inch card, fits 99% of systems
- Dual slot, 4K ready, ice storm 2.0 cooling
- 3 x DisplayPort 1.4, 1 x HDMI 2.0B
Game-to-game results also matter when comparing it with the RX 460; Notebookcheck recorded individual games in which the Radeon was faster. Neither the original comparison nor one isolated frame-rate figure makes a universal ranking across games.
How well does it suit gaming now?
Older games and esports
For older titles and lighter esports games, the card can still be useful if the system and game support it. A 1080p target with reduced or medium settings is more realistic than assuming maximum settings or high refresh rates. Actual playability depends on the individual game and its current version.
Modern, demanding games
The 2 GB framebuffer is the central constraint. Newer games and high-resolution textures can exceed it, causing stutter or forcing lower texture quality and resolution. Reducing settings may help, but it cannot turn this card into a modern GPU with more memory. It is not a sensible purchase for modern AAA gaming, ray tracing, or a high-refresh-rate 1080p setup.
Display and light-use upgrades
For a compatible PC that needs discrete display outputs, this card may be useful beyond gaming, but its gaming-era specification does not establish suitability for professional GPU compute or every modern media feature. Buy it for a specific, verified compatibility need rather than assuming an old graphics card supports current workloads.

Buying a used GTX 1050 Mini in 2026
As of the August 18, 2026 marketplace snapshot, observed eBay used listings were roughly $78–$120, with condition, shipping, and return terms varying. A Newegg page showed old-stock or third-party listings around $160–$245. Those listings are signals, not stable prices or a normal value benchmark; paying the latter range for a 2 GB card is difficult to justify.
Check eBay listings and the Newegg listing carefully: seller, condition, shipping, import costs, and returns can change the real cost. A product page or listing does not establish that an individual used card is tested or covered by a transferable warranty.
Used-card checklist
- Verify that the card or box identifies model ZT-P10500A-10L, rather than an OC or Low Profile variant.
- Confirm the included bracket is full-height if that is what your case requires; slim PCs generally need the separate Low Profile model.
- Ask for clear photos and evidence the card operates, such as a GPU-Z screenshot and a stress-test run without artifacts.
- Check that the fan starts, spins without grinding, and does not wobble; inspect for dust, corrosion, damage, and missing accessories.
- Prefer a seller with a meaningful return policy, particularly if you cannot test the card before paying.
- Compare the delivered price with newer used GPUs that fit your case and PSU. Do not treat an old-stock asking price as evidence of the card’s value.
Who should buy it?
- Consider it if you already own a compatible system, need a short card without an auxiliary power connector, and find a working used unit at a genuinely low price.
- Skip it if you want modern AAA gaming, need more than 2 GB of video memory, expect high-refresh 1080p, or find the price approaching that of a substantially newer card.
- Choose another form factor if your PC requires a low-profile bracket; the standard Mini’s short length does not make it low-profile.
At launch, around $109–$110 bought a sensible entry-level 1080p upgrade. In 2026, the GTX 1050 Mini’s case is much narrower: its connector-free, compact design can solve a real compatibility problem, but only when the price reflects its age and limitations.
