007 First Light has 23 Intel collectibles, also called MI6 Files. Collecting all 23 unlocks the “For your eyes only” trophy or achievement. None is permanently missable: pickups save immediately, and Chapter Select lets you revisit checkpoints after finishing the story. The important exception is local timing—some files only become interactable after a conversation or gadget tutorial, such as Recruit Stats in Chapter 4.
This guide explains how to plan a first-playthrough collection route, how to clean up files after the credits, how the Touchpad tracker works, and what to do when an item appears unavailable. It also separates confirmed item routes from disputed per-mission totals, so you can use the count of 23 without relying on an unreliable chapter checklist.

Quick answer: what you need for the Intel trophy
There are exactly 23 Intel collectibles in 007 First Light. The game calls these objects MI6 Files in its collectible categories. Finding every file unlocks the “For your eyes only” trophy on PlayStation and the equivalent achievement on Xbox and PC.

- Total required: 23 Intel/MI6 Files.
- Missable status: no file is permanently missable according to the dedicated collectible walkthrough.
- Saving: a pickup is saved immediately when collected.
- Cleanup: use Chapter Select to return to the relevant checkpoint instead of restarting the campaign.
- Tracking: the Touchpad opens a tracker by collectible type, but there is no chapter-by-chapter completion tracker.
The safest approach is to collect files during the story when a route guide identifies them, then use Chapter Select for anything you skipped. A post-credits sweep is also practical once the full gadget set is available, but that is a route recommendation rather than a requirement for every file.

Before you start: choose a collection strategy
You do not need a special edition, accessory or paid tool to collect Intel. The standard game and its normal interaction prompts are enough. What matters is deciding whether you prefer to stop and search during the campaign or make one organized cleanup run later.
During-story collection is efficient because you are already moving through each location. Keep a chapter guide available, pause at the listed checkpoint and collect the named file before advancing the objective. This avoids repeating approach routes, but it requires attention to prerequisites. Some objects are present visually before their interaction has been enabled.
A post-credits sweep is calmer. You can finish the narrative, open Chapter Select, and work through a checklist in a fixed order. An independent all-collectibles guide recommends this approach because the later gadget kit can make several categories easier to combine in one pass. It is not an official requirement, and you should not wait for a gadget if the individual route says a file is already accessible.

Intel is one of five collectible categories in 007 First Light. The files are environmental objects that you approach and interact with; they are not the same as Playing Cards, Mementos, Postcards or Legacy Items. The category distinction matters because the in-game tracker counts by type, not by chapter.
| Collectible type | Reported total | Relation to the Intel hunt |
|---|---|---|
| Playing Cards | 36 | Separate category |
| Intel / MI6 Files | 23 | Required for “For Your Eyes Only” |
| Mementos | 14 | Separate category |
| Postcards | 10 | Separate category |
| Legacy Items | 9 | Separate category |
| All categories | 92 | Reported total for the complete collection |
The 92-item breakdown comes from an independent all-collectibles guide. That guide also associates all 92 items with the gold “A Collector’s Habit” trophy, while the 23-file set has its own Intel trophy. You do not need the other 69 objects to earn “For your eyes only.”
These totals are useful for planning, but they are not a substitute for named routes. The independent guide notes that compared sources agree on per-mission totals for only seven of 17 missions. Where a checklist gives a different number for a chapter, follow the individual item location and verify the Intel category total in-game rather than assuming the disputed chapter number is correct.
Are any MI6 Files missable?
Nothing is permanently missable
PowerPyx’s dedicated walkthrough states that no collectible is missable. If you pass an item during a mission, continue playing; you can return later through Chapter Select. This is especially useful if you are prioritizing the story, playing on a higher difficulty, or do not yet have the gadget needed to reach an object.
Pickups save immediately
When the interaction completes, the file is recorded immediately. You do not have to finish the chapter or reach a manual save point. After collecting one, you can safely continue to the next objective, quit after the game has returned you to normal play, or leave the chapter through its available menu options.
For a cautious cleanup routine, wait until the interaction animation and confirmation have finished, open the Touchpad tracker, and make sure the Intel count has changed. This prevents confusion between an item you examined and one that actually registered.
Chapter Select is the cleanup tool
Chapter Select returns you to checkpoints rather than creating a separate free-roam map. Use the chapter and checkpoint named by your route guide, collect the file, and allow the pickup interaction to finish. If several files occur in one chapter, follow the route in order so you do not accidentally skip a prerequisite conversation.

Because the game does not provide a chapter-completion total, do not judge progress solely by a chapter menu. Confirm progress through the Intel category in the Touchpad tracker and through the individual item names in a reliable location walkthrough.

Option 1: collect during the first playthrough
This route minimizes repeat travel. Keep a chapter-by-chapter guide open, pause when you reach a listed checkpoint, and search for the named file before advancing the objective. This is the best choice if you enjoy exploring slowly and already have the required interaction or gadget.
Read the prerequisite wording before moving. “Before meeting Q,” “after the tutorial” and similar directions are procedural instructions, not flavor text. If you run directly to a computer or locked case too early, the object may be visible but not usable.
Option 2: finish the story, then sweep
An independent all-collectibles guide recommends a focused sweep after the credits, when more of the gadget kit is available. The advantage is consistency: you can move through each chapter with the same tools and clean up several collectible categories in one pass. The disadvantage is returning to older checkpoints and repeating some approach routes.
The sweep recommendation is not an official rule. It does not mean every Intel file requires late-game equipment. It is simply a way to reduce backtracking when a file is behind an optional lock or sealed object.

Useful gadget timing
- Q-Watch: unlocks in Chapter 4. Holding it highlights nearby collectibles, making it useful for a sweep and for checking rooms before leaving.
- Laser Strap: unlocks in Chapter 9. The independent guide says it can cut locks or sealed objects that guard some pickups.
Use the Q-Watch and Laser Strap advice as planning help, not as a universal prerequisite list. The exact requirement depends on the individual file and the checkpoint route. If a named walkthrough places a file earlier and does not list a gadget, you can follow that route without waiting for Chapter 9.
Confirmed example: Chapter 4 Q-Lab
Chapter 4 demonstrates why the order of actions matters. The Q-Lab contains two named Intel files, but they are not both available at the same moment.
Workshop Notice
Mobalytics places Workshop Notice before the meeting with Q. Look for it on a table near a printer in the Q-Lab. Interact with the document before you begin the conversation sequence.
Recruit Stats
Recruit Stats is at a computer in the Q-Lab, but it is not available when you first enter. Speak with Q, pick up the Q-Watch, and complete the Q-Watch tutorial. Only then can you interact with the computer and collect the file. PowerPyx independently confirms this timing requirement.
Why this example matters
If you check the computer before the tutorial, the missing interaction is not evidence that the collectible is bugged or permanently lost. Leave the computer, complete the required conversation and tutorial, then return. This same principle applies elsewhere: when a file does not respond, check the chapter guide for a conversation, objective state or gadget requirement before abandoning the checkpoint.

How to use a chapter-by-chapter location guide
The precise routes for the remaining files are checkpoint-based. PowerPyx provides checkpoint-level locations and save advice, while Mobalytics lists named item routes. The May 26, 2026 PowerPyx guide and the June 2, 2026 Mobalytics update are useful in slightly different ways: one emphasizes checkpoint cleanup and saving, while the other emphasizes the named object and its immediate surroundings. Use the following process with either guide.
- Open the Intel section first. Confirm your current total in the Touchpad tracker before loading a chapter.
- Select the exact chapter and checkpoint. Chapter Select is more reliable than loading a broad chapter and trying to reconstruct the route from memory.
- Read the prerequisite line before moving. Note whether the item is before or after a meeting, tutorial, objective update or gadget unlock.
- Follow the environmental landmark. Guides identify rooms, desks, tables, computers, printers, doors and other route markers. Search the named landmark rather than sweeping every room.
- Interact until the pickup registers. Do not immediately reload or sprint away during the interaction animation.
- Check the tracker. Confirm that the Intel total increased or that the named file is marked as collected.
- Continue or exit deliberately. If another file is listed in the same checkpoint, collect it before leaving; otherwise return to the chapter menu and choose the next checkpoint.
When a listed file is not visible
- Verify that you loaded the same checkpoint named by the guide.
- Check whether a conversation or tutorial must be completed first.
- Look for a nearby interaction prompt rather than assuming the file is only decorative.
- Confirm that you are searching the Intel category, not another collectible type.
- Reload the checkpoint only after allowing the previous pickup to save.
Do not infer a chapter total from a conflicting checklist. The independent tracker notes that sources agree on per-mission totals for only seven of 17 missions. Where guides disagree, trust the individual item route and the in-game Intel total over an unverified chapter number.
Comparing route guidance
If you are choosing between guides, compare the information each one supplies rather than looking only at a headline total. A useful route should identify the item by name, give a chapter and checkpoint, describe a recognizable landmark, and state whether a conversation or gadget must happen first.
- PowerPyx: strongest for checkpoint-level locations, immediate-save behavior, the no-missables explanation and Chapter Select cleanup.
- Mobalytics: useful for named object routes and timing examples, including the two Q-Lab files.
- Independent all-collectibles tracker: useful for the 92-item overview, category totals and a suggested post-credits sweep, but it warns that mission-level totals conflict among sources.
Use one guide as your primary route and the others as a cross-check when an interaction appears unavailable. Do not combine disputed chapter numbers from different checklists into a new total; the game’s type tracker is the better authority.
Keeping your own 23-file checklist
Since the game does not show chapter completion, a small external checklist prevents duplicate trips. Record the file name exactly as it appears in the route guide, followed by the chapter, checkpoint and prerequisite. Mark it only after the Touchpad total changes.
| Record | What to write down | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Item name | The guide’s exact name, such as Workshop Notice | Prevents confusing two similarly placed documents |
| Chapter | The chapter number | Lets you return through Chapter Select |
| Checkpoint | The named load point | Avoids replaying an entire mission |
| Prerequisite | Conversation, tutorial or gadget requirement | Explains why an interaction may initially be unavailable |
| Confirmed | Touchpad total after pickup | Verifies that the save registered |
This is a planning aid, not a second in-game tracker. The authoritative completion check remains the Intel category count, which should reach 23 when the set is complete.

“A Collector’s Habit”
The independent collection guide reports a gold trophy for all 92 collectibles: 36 Playing Cards, 23 Intel files, 14 Mementos, 10 Postcards and nine Legacy Items. Pursue this only if you want the complete collection; it is not needed for the Intel trophy.
Six collectible-related trophies are reported in that guide. Because per-mission totals differ between some sources, use the named item routes and category totals rather than treating an unofficial mission-count table as definitive.

Troubleshooting checklist
The total is lower than expected
Compare your Touchpad Intel count with your personal item list. A lower number usually means a pickup was skipped, not that a chapter is permanently locked. Return through Chapter Select to the checkpoint named in the route guide.
The computer or document has no prompt
Check the local sequence first. Chapter 4’s Recruit Stats, for example, requires the Q conversation, Q-Watch pickup and tutorial. Advance the objective, then revisit the interaction point.
You collected an item but did not see a trophy
The trophy is awarded only after all 23 Intel files are recorded. Verify the category total rather than relying on a chapter menu, since there is no chapter-based collectible tracker.
You want to collect several categories at once
A post-credits sweep can combine Intel with the other collectible types. Carry the Q-Watch for nearby highlighting and, once unlocked in Chapter 9, use the Laser Strap where a lock or sealed object blocks access. Keep separate checklists because the Touchpad categories are counted independently.

Use the Touchpad tracker and select the Intel collectible category. It tracks by type, not by chapter, so maintain a personal chapter checklist if you want route-level detail.
Do I need the Q-Watch for every file?
No. The Q-Watch unlocks in Chapter 4 and highlights nearby collectibles, making it useful for sweeping areas. Individual routes may not require it.
Do I need the Laser Strap for every file?
No. It unlocks in Chapter 9 and can cut some locks or sealed objects according to the independent sweep guide. Treat it as helpful equipment for certain access points, not a universal requirement.
What are the two Chapter 4 Q-Lab files?
Workshop Notice is on a table near a printer before meeting Q. Recruit Stats is at a computer and becomes interactable after speaking with Q, collecting the Q-Watch and completing its tutorial.
Do I need all 92 collectibles for the Intel trophy?
No. The 92-item figure includes five categories. “For your eyes only” requires only the 23 Intel/MI6 Files. The full 92-item collection is associated with “A Collector’s Habit.”
Final route advice
For the least repetition, follow named checkpoint routes during the story and respect each file’s timing prerequisite. For the least pressure, finish the campaign and clean up through Chapter Select with the Q-Watch and later gadgets available. Either route reaches the same requirement: 23 saved Intel/MI6 Files, verified in the Touchpad tracker, for “For your eyes only.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Are any MI6 Files permanently missable?
No. Files save immediately, and Chapter Select lets you revisit checkpoints for cleanup.
How many Intel collectibles are required for the trophy?
All 23 Intel/MI6 Files are required for “For your eyes only.”
Why can’t I interact with Recruit Stats?
In Chapter 4, speak with Q, pick up the Q-Watch and complete its tutorial before returning to the computer.
Does the Q-Watch locate every collectible?
It highlights nearby collectibles after unlocking in Chapter 4, but it is not required for every file.
Do I need the Collector’s Edition?
No. The standard game is sufficient; the Collector’s Edition’s physical items do not alter collectible locations.
The Bottom Line
Collect 23 Intel/MI6 Files, verify the Intel total in the Touchpad tracker, and use Chapter Select for anything missed. Respect local prerequisites such as the Chapter 4 Q-Lab tutorial, and “For your eyes only” will unlock without a campaign restart.
