The collection currently includes ten notable mods, from larger maps and extra fruit to Chess, Conway’s Game of Life, and custom level creation.
This is a community-made mod collection, not an official Google sequel. “Google Snake Mods 2” is commonly used as a search phrase for the modded game rather than the name of a Google product.
The 10 best Google Snake mods

Most players should begin with More Menu Mod or Pudding Mod. Choose Level Editor if you want to build stages, or one of the combined mods if you want several mechanics in one package.
1. More Menu Mod
More Menu Mod is the strongest starting point because it expands the core game without replacing its basic identity. It adds more choices for speed, apple count, and map size, letting you make a run easier, longer, faster, or considerably more demanding.

The current configuration describes it as the most popular mod. Its web branches cover versions 3 through 10, including variants with arrow controls, Daily Challenge support, a mobile touchpad, hotdog, magnet, gate, new foods, and new count and pause options. It has full mobile support.
Use it when you want more control over the classic Snake formula rather than a completely different game.
2. Pudding Mod
Pudding Mod adds the broadest cosmetic and progression-focused package. It introduces extra fruit types, snake skins, and themes, while also tracking personal bests and other statistics.
There is also a very rare surprise: the mod includes a one-in-a-million chance of spawning a Golden Apple. That makes it a fun choice for repeat players, although the rarity means it should be treated as an Easter egg rather than a normal gameplay feature.

Pudding Mod works on mobile, but the loader documents that mobile play lacks the input display and speed information available elsewhere. Its current web branches cover versions 1 through 10.
3. Level Editor Mod
Level Editor Mod is the best choice for players who want to design rather than simply replay Snake. You can click on the board to place walls and fruit, play pre-made levels, create your own stages, and attempt challenge levels.
It is more of a level-building toolkit than a traditional rules tweak, so it has strong replay value for custom puzzles and difficult layouts. The current web branches are versions 2, 3, and 4.

Important limitation: the loader explicitly lists this mod as having no mobile support. Use it on a desktop browser.

4. More Pudding Mod
More Pudding Mod combines More Menu Mod, Visibility Mod, and Pudding Mod. That gives you expanded gameplay settings, visual customization, additional content, and Pudding’s statistics-focused features in one selection.
It is a practical middle ground between installing individual mods and choosing the larger Chimera package. Mobile play works, but with reduced features. The current web branches cover versions 3, 4, and 5.
5. Visibility Mod
Visibility Mod changes what you can see by deleting or hiding parts of the snake, game elements, and background. The result can range from a visual novelty to a genuine memory and navigation challenge.
The loader says this mod comes with Pudding Mod, so it is useful for players who want visual experimentation alongside extra content. It has full mobile support, and web branches 1 through 5 are currently listed.
6. Chimera Mod
Chimera Mod is the largest combined remix in the current collection. It brings together More Menu Mod, Mouse Mode, Visibility Mod, and Pudding Mod.
That makes it a good option if you want expanded settings, mouse control, visual changes, skins, themes, fruit, and statistics without switching between separate entries. The trade-off is complexity: because it combines several systems, it may be less predictable than a focused mod.

It works on mobile with reduced features. Current web branches are versions 3, 4, and 5.
7. Mouse Mode
Mouse Mode replaces keyboard control with mouse control. It is worth trying if you find keyboard movement uncomfortable or want to experiment with a different way of steering.

It has full mobile support according to the configuration, though mouse control is naturally most relevant on a computer. Its current web branches cover versions 2 through 5.
8. Chess Mod
Chess Mod changes the experience substantially by adding Chess Mode and making it the only available mode to play. It is therefore better viewed as a rules-changing experiment than as an enhancement to ordinary Snake.
The configuration marks it gsmOnly, meaning it is restricted to the Google Snake Mods environment rather than the general userscript route. It works on mobile, and current web branches are versions 2 and 3.
9. Candy Mod
Candy Mod adds Candy Mode after Blender. Each fruit increases the snake’s length by between one and six, making food collection less predictable and potentially changing how quickly the board becomes crowded.

Blender does not need to be installed as a separate mod: a 2025-updated guide reports that Blender Mode had become native to the game.
10. Conway Mod
Conway Mod replaces Snake with Conway’s Game of Life, making it the most experimental entry on the list. It is a curiosity for players interested in cellular automata rather than a conventional Snake extension.
It is marked gsmOnly, has only web version 1 listed, and is explicitly not supported on Tampermonkey. On mobile, it requires a play/pause button for support. These restrictions make it less convenient than the other choices.
How to install and play Google Snake mods
Recommended method: GoogleSnakeMods.com
- Open googlesnakemods.com.
- Click PLAY.
- Choose a mod from the panel that appears in the bottom-right.
- Use the game’s available controls and menu options, including Play, Settings, Shuffle, Reset, Daily Challenge, and Share.
The project describes this website as the maintained and supported route, including for mobile play. It is preferable to old guides that tell you to download an HTML file and import it as a Chrome bookmark; that is no longer the current recommended method.
Userscript method for Google’s Snake page
If you want the mod loader to run on Google’s own Snake page, install a supported userscript manager. The project recommends Tampermonkey and states that Greasemonkey will not work.
The listed combinations are:
- Chrome with Tampermonkey
- Firefox with Tampermonkey
- Safari with Userscripts
- Microsoft Edge with Tampermonkey
- Opera with Tampermonkey
Safari requires macOS 12 or later. Opera users must enable the userscript manager on search-page results for the loader to run.
The current loader configuration identifies version 1.1.1. The project’s GitHub repository has no published releases; the userscripts are distributed through its build files. The loader uses the external configuration file mod-info.json.

Choose the correct loader variant
- INSTALL (fbx-only): use this for the standalone Google FBX Snake page.
- INSTALL (standard): use this for Google searches containing supported full-word terms such as
snake,google snake, orsnake game. It also works on the standalone FBX page. - INSTALL (international): runs on every Google search page. Use it only if the other variants fail.
The standard loader does not match partial or misspelled terms such as google snaking or google snaek. Use a supported full-word search.

Troubleshooting Google Snake mods
A duplicate-loader message appears
If you see “It appears that you have more than one copy of the snake mod loader trying to run at the same time,” open your userscript manager and disable or remove the extra copy. Do not keep multiple loader variants active unless you know they target separate pages.
Nothing happens on the page
Check that you installed the variant matching the page you opened. The FBX-only script does not target ordinary Google search Snake pages. The standard script requires a supported full-word Snake search, while the international version targets all Google search pages.
A mod works on desktop but not on a phone or tablet
Check the mod’s mobile status. Level Editor has no mobile support; Pudding lacks its input display and speed information; More Pudding and Chimera work with reduced features. Conway requires a play/pause button on mobile.

This is an explicit compatibility restriction: Conway Mod is not supported on Tampermonkey. It is also marked gsmOnly, so use the GoogleSnakeMods environment and a compatible setup instead.
Textures or code fail to load
Issues such as missing textures, code errors, outdated behavior, and device-specific failures have been reported in the project’s GitHub issue tracker. These reports are not proof that every installation is broken, but they indicate that compatibility can change when Google alters its page or game code.
The loader detects identifiers and assets associated with Google’s Snake implementation, including trophy, apple, and snake_arcade. Changes to Google’s page can therefore prevent a mod from attaching even when the userscript itself has not changed.
Are these mods safe and current?
Use the maintained website or the project’s official GitHub repository rather than downloading random HTML files or scripts from unrelated pages. The current loader configuration is version 1.1.1, but individual mods have different web branches and mobile support levels.
Compatibility is also not permanent: these mods depend on Google’s page structure and game assets. If a Google update breaks a mod, switching to the maintained website, checking the project’s issues, or trying the correct loader variant is more reliable than following an old bookmark-import guide.
