Which games are best if you want to play without touching the screen?
Start with Dead Cells or GRID Autosport: the guide describes their controller support as full, including menus. Stardew Valley is another strong option, particularly for slower-paced play, although the guide does not specify its menu coverage as clearly. For the other games, expect that a controller may handle gameplay without covering every menu or mode. Keep the touchscreen within reach until you confirm the exact game version’s behavior.
How to check controller compatibility before you download
- Check the current store listing for your phone. On iPhone, look for Apple’s controller-support indicator when available. Its presence is evidence of support; its absence does not prove the game cannot work with a controller. On Android, check the game’s current Google Play listing or the gamepad collection.
- Look for the depth of support. A listing or guide that says “controller support” may mean gameplay only. If you want to navigate menus and play without touch, seek an explicit claim of full support rather than assuming all controls are covered.
- Check the platform and version. Support can differ between iOS and Android and can change with updates. Genshin Impact is a documented example of Android support arriving later than iOS support; its reported Android support was tied to version 5.5 and was off by default.
- Confirm device and region availability. Store listings, operating-system requirements, and game availability can vary. Check the listing shown to your account on the phone you intend to use.
- Pair the controller and verify in-game settings. A compatible Xbox or PlayStation controller does not make every mobile game compatible. After pairing, open the game’s control settings and test both gameplay and menus before relying on the pad.
Apple’s App Store controller-supported games collection is one discovery option; it features titles such as GRIS, Cat Quest II, Dandara, Baba Is You, and Myst Mobile. These are additional possibilities to check, not additions to the ten-game shortlist above. A third-party button mapper is not the same as a game’s native controller support.

What “controller support” can mean
- Full support: The game can be played and navigated with the controller, including menus. This is the most suitable category for players trying to avoid touch input.
- Gameplay support: The pad works during play, but you may still need the touchscreen for menus or certain modes. The guide describes Call of Duty: Mobile this way.
- Platform- or version-specific support: A game may support controllers on one mobile operating system before another, or require a setting to be enabled. The guide reports Android controller support for Genshin Impact arrived in version 5.5 and is off by default.
These distinctions matter: the word “compatible” alone does not tell you whether every screen, mode, or control is covered. The AndroidHIRE guide identifies PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, Mobile Legends, and Brawl Stars as lacking native controller support; do not treat a workaround or a controller working on another platform as proof of native mobile support.
Choosing a phone-mounted or Bluetooth controller
A mobile controller can make supported games easier to play, but verify the hardware and game separately.
