It does not rank Game Packs, Stuff Packs, Kits, Maker Packs, or bundles. There is no universal winner: the order below follows GamesRadar+’s 2026 ranking, while each entry explains who is most likely to enjoy it.
Electronic Arts describes its catalog as a way to “unlock new stories, new worlds, and new ways to play with your Sims.” The useful question is which of those additions fits the save you want to play. Browse the official Sims 4 pack catalog.

How this ranking works
This is an editorial ranking, not a sales chart or a measured universal verdict. It uses GamesRadar+’s 2026 top-ten order as a baseline, weighing the distinct gameplay each pack adds, its potential to shape multiple saves, and its appeal to different play styles. Those priorities matter: Destructoid’s 2026 coverage separates rankings for gameplay, worlds, Create-a-Sim, and Build/Buy, illustrating how a different emphasis can change the results.

The 10 best Sims 4 Expansion Packs
1. Growing Together — Best for family-centered play
Growing Together puts relationships within a household and across generations at the center of play. Family dynamics shape how Sims get along; children can develop traits and quirks; and events such as baby showers and family reunions give family stories more occasions to unfold. It also adds mid-life crises for adult Sims. The infant life stage itself arrived in a free base-game update, so the expansion’s value lies in its additional family systems and activities, not in infants being exclusive to the pack.
2. Adventure Awaits — Best for getaways and child-focused stories
Adventure Awaits is a strong fit for players who want trips and formative childhood experiences to matter beyond one vacation. Getaways provide a setting for those stories, while children can develop traits and sentiments that carry into adulthood. The pack also adds imaginary friends, three neighborhoods, activities, and skills.
3. City Living — Best for apartments and urban life
City Living gives Sims a distinctly urban routine in San Myshuno, with apartments, festivals, food stalls, and karaoke. Work-from-home careers support a less conventional schedule, while the city itself supplies regular events and places to explore. Eco Lifestyle is another route to apartment living, but City Living is the direct choice for a festival-focused city setting.

Discover University makes higher education a sustained part of a Sim’s life rather than a single event. Sims can apply to Britechester or Foxbury, choose housing, and balance classes with university life. Choose it if you enjoy guiding a Sim through a demanding multi-stage goal; it is less suited to players who want a quick, low-commitment story beat.
Rank #2
- PLAY WITH LIFE, IN REAL LIFE: Dive into the neighborhood, meet iconic Sims, and fulfill your life’s aspirations like never before!
- A NEW WAY TO PLAY SIMS: Gather up to 5 players as you each craft your own story while collecting matching SIMbols along the way in this family strategy game
- EVERY GAME, A NEW STORY: Embark on an entirely new journey each time you play while encountering unexpected surprises at every turn — what will your life look like?
- ICONIC DETAILS FOR FANS: Ideal for play and display, featuring iconic artwork, nostalgic touches, plumbob movers, interaction dice, and a needs tracker familiar to fans
- MAIN CHARACTERS WANTED: Recommended for 2-5 players, ages 12 and up
5. Get Famous — Best for celebrity and acting gameplay
Get Famous centers its career and fame systems on Del Sol Valley. Sims can pursue an active Actor career, build fame, or follow influencer and live-streamer careers. Its main world-building trade-off is a relatively small number of lots, as noted by GamesRadar+’s guide.
6. Cats and Dogs — Best for pets and veterinary play
Cats and Dogs lets players create and customize cats and dogs, build bonds with them, and run a veterinary clinic in Brindleton Bay. It is the clearest pick here if pets are an essential part of your household stories, rather than a theme you only want to visit occasionally.
7. Enchanted by Nature — Best for fairies and nature-oriented fantasy
Enchanted by Nature adds a fairy path, including abilities, alongside plant-focused play and an apothecary table. Its Natural Living feature supports Sims oriented around nature. Consider it if you want fantasy woven into everyday play, rather than a primarily realistic expansion.

8. Life and Death — Best for gothic stories and the supernatural
Life and Death brings mortality and ghost stories into focus with funeral events, wills, ghosts, crypt building, and a mortician path. It also includes a pet crow and a Grim Reaper career. Those systems make it a better match for players who want a deliberately gothic or supernatural save than for someone seeking a broad everyday-life overhaul.

- The Sims 4 Base Game + Island Living Expansion Pack Bundle
- Create unique Sims and build them a perfect home.
- Explore a breezy world drenched in sun, sand, and endless fun.
- Play with Life!
9. Cottage Living — Best for cozy rural play
Cottage Living suits players who want rural routines built around gardening and livestock, with activities spanning live mode, Create-a-Sim, and Build/Buy. Its Simple Living lot challenge makes recipes require ingredients the Sim has acquired, connecting food preparation to the household’s self-sufficiency. That constraint is a feature for players who enjoy planning and resource gathering, not an obligatory way to play every save.
10. Seasons — Best for changes that touch everyday play
Seasons adds weather and seasonal holidays that affect Sims across their lives and worlds. Its holiday calendar can also give events from other packs more use. GamesRadar+ places it first overall in its 2026 ranking; it appears tenth here because this list follows that guide’s top-ten order only where indicated?

Start with the kind of save you are most likely to play, rather than buying by rank alone:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Family stories: Growing Together for household dynamics and family events; Adventure Awaits for child-centered experiences with effects that can carry into adulthood.
- City routines: City Living for apartments, festivals, and an urban setting.
- Careers and goals: Discover University for a demanding education arc, or Get Famous for acting and celebrity progression.
- Pets: Cats and Dogs for customizable cats and dogs and veterinary play.
- Fantasy or gothic themes: Enchanted by Nature for fairies and nature, or Life and Death for ghosts, funerals, and mortality-focused stories.
- Rural living: Cottage Living for gardening, livestock, and ingredient-based cooking.
- Broad changes to daily life: Seasons for weather and holidays across worlds and households.
These are preference-led recommendations, not claims that one pack performs best for every player. Destructoid’s February 19, 2026 guide likewise shows how lists change when the criteria shift to gameplay, worlds, Create-a-Sim, or Build/Buy.

Check platform and price before buying
EA says The Sims 4 and game updates are required for its packs, and that playing across packs requires the additional DLC involved. GamesRadar+ lists the ten entries as available for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X/S, but support can vary by product and storefront. Check the listing for your chosen pack, platform, and region before purchasing.
Prices and discounts change by region and date. EA’s Autumn Sale page, captured October 7, 2026, says the offer ends October 8, advertises 20% off Royalty & Legacy and up to 50% off selected packs, and names several packs in the sale, including Growing Together, Cottage Living, and Discover University. Treat those as time-limited terms, not ongoing prices: check EA’s live store before buying.
GamesRadar+ counted 21 Expansion Packs in its 2026 snapshot, which includes Royalty & Legacy (2026). That is the publisher’s dated catalog count, not a permanent total; EA’s current pack catalog is the better place to check what is available now.
