The other titles below are discovery leads from itch.io’s Co-op and Web directory, not verified reviews: a browser listing or co-op tag alone does not prove a game is currently playable or that its multiplayer has a shared win condition.
How to choose a co-op browser game
“Multiplayer” only means people can play together; it does not necessarily mean they work toward the same outcome. Check whether the rules are cooperative, how many people can join, and how a room is created before sending friends a link. itch.io defines its Co-op tag as games where players work together against AI opponents or the game itself, but its directory is a discovery tool, not a quality review or guarantee of current availability. Browse itch.io’s Web + Co-op listings.

The table separates the two better-documented options from eight directory candidates. For the latter, player counts and game descriptions reflect the itch.io listing; exact room setup, current availability, browser behavior, and shared-goal rules are not independently established here. Confirm those details on the live game page before organizing a session.

The two clearest starting points
Ducklings: relaxed shared play
The Ducklings website describes the game as a free, easy-to-play, all-ages web game with co-op multiplayer. Its stated loop is rescuing lost ducklings and upgrading a nest, and the operator says friends can join through a unique room code. The same site claims web/mobile crossplay. Those are operator-provided descriptions, so check the live game for current access and behavior. Visit Ducklings.

Codenames Online: Duet for cooperative wordplay
Czech Games Edition describes Codenames Online as a free browser implementation of Codenames and Codenames Duet. The distinction matters: Duet is the cooperative variant, while classic Codenames pits two teams against each other. To start, create a room, adjust its settings, connect through a voice or video chat of your choice, then share the room URL. The publisher says no account or download is required. Open Codenames Online.

These itch.io entries can help you find a genre fit, but their catalogue descriptions should not be mistaken for hands-on confirmation. Check the live listing for a working browser build, the online join method, and a genuinely shared objective.
Sneaky Stealy
A two-player browser listing about friends playing burglars makes this a promising short heist or puzzle candidate. The listing does not establish its room flow or detailed cooperative rules.
Guardian Sphere
This two-player shoot-’em-up is worth considering only after confirming that its live multiplayer mode is cooperative rather than competitive or merely simultaneous.
My Rusty Submarine
The listing frames this as a two-player survival game about repairing a submarine and trying to travel farther. Confirm how players connect and whether both contribute to the same survival goal.
Ruins Of Mitriom
The listing says the exploration game can be played “Alone or in coop” and describes a search for an energy source across a continent. Player cap and session setup are not stated there.
Rank #2
- Fight your way through a perilous world In a 4-player co-op story campaign where you must work together to survive increasingly challenging missions
- Choose from 8 customizable cleaners and a range of lethal weapons and items
- Play with or against friends in PvP
- A new Roguelike card system creates different experiences each and every time
- A PlayStation Plus subscription is required to play Back 4 Blood on PlayStation or Xbox consoles.
Box Out!
A two-player logic puzzle-platformer may suit friends who prefer solving problems over competing for a score. Check that the live game is still available and that its rules give both players a shared objective.
Grand Fix
The listing calls this a two-player co-op car-repair game set in a racing pit stop. It is a natural candidate for friends who like coordinating small tasks; the listing does not spell out the join process.
Operation Cybernet
The directory describes a free sci-fi first-person shooter with four-player co-op. Confirm that the browser version is playable and that its online setup supports your group before planning a session.
FillGood
This collaborative paint-by-numbers entry is the gentlest option in the directory shortlist. Its listing says players can join through a shared link without an account or download; check that the current page still offers that flow.
Other discovery options
The same itch.io directory also lists JJAT, described as a co-op precision platformer; Witch Sisters’ Sugary Dreams, about recovering stolen candy; Life in Quarantine, a walk with a dog; and Break Like a Baby, described as co-op comedy and survival. Treat these as search leads, not verified recommendations, until you confirm their current browser availability and multiplayer rules.
