Peter Parker’s coolest abilities in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are the ones that turn his mechanical Spider-Arms and symbiote strength into memorable combat choices. My ranking weighs spectacle, crowd control, follow-up potential, and how distinctly each move expresses Peter’s style—not damage or cooldown numbers, which the official descriptions do not compare.
Insomniac’s PS5 game stars Peter and Miles, but this list is strictly about Peter; Miles’s bioelectric Venom abilities are a separate toolkit. PlayStation describes Peter’s symbiote powers as emphasizing power and strength, while his mechanical arms bring a different flavor to his combat options. PlayStation’s hands-on report supplies the move descriptions below. The order is an editorial call, not an official ranking.

10. Wall Smash
Wall Smash is a quick burst of environmental improvisation: Peter balances on one hand and kicks an enemy rapidly against a nearby wall. Its appeal is less about a broad effect and more about the animation’s personality—an ordinary piece of the environment becomes part of the fight.
It ranks tenth because the described move centers on one enemy and a nearby wall, rather than a wider group or a clearly stated combo setup. When the surroundings cooperate, though, it is one of Peter’s most distinctive-looking attacks.

9. Spider Shock
Peter’s mechanical arms thrust forward and discharge an electrical cascade that affects enemies caught in it. Spider Shock is a satisfying blend of precise-looking arm movement and area control: the attack feels like a tool Peter designed, rather than a generic punch.
It sits below the larger symbiote attacks on spectacle, but it stands out for making the Spider-Arms feel integral to Peter’s combat identity.
8. Symbiote Strike
Symbiote Strike wraps Peter in the suit and drives him forward. Spikes protruding from the symbiote help send an enemy backward, giving the move a forceful, aggressive silhouette.
The forward rush makes it a natural choice when you want to disrupt an opponent and keep pressure moving. Its defining strength is momentum and visual character, rather than a documented group effect.

7. Symbiote Punch
Symbiote Punch is a forceful launcher that leaves enemies stunned and airborne. That makes its appeal practical as well as visual: an opponent in the air can become the start of a follow-up combo.
It ranks above Symbiote Strike because the described stun-and-launch effect gives it a clearer setup role. If your idea of “cool” is an attack that creates an opening for the next move, this is one of Peter’s strongest picks.
6. Symbiote Surge
Symbiote Surge delivers a dramatic grab-and-slam attack, with the player able to manually target enemies. That targeting detail gives the move a satisfying sense of choice: the payoff can be aimed at the opponent you want to deal with.
Rank #2
- 1237216
The official description establishes the grab, slam, and manual targeting, but does not provide a comparative damage or duration figure. Its place here reflects the deliberate, cinematic feel of choosing a target and bringing the symbiote’s force down on them.

PlayStation’s hands-on report also describes symbiote tendrils grabbing nearby enemies, lifting them, and slamming them down. That combination makes this one of the most visually forceful expressions of the suit: the tendrils reach out, take control, and turn the surrounding fight into part of the attack.
The report does not clearly name this move in the passage describing it, so this entry uses a descriptive label rather than assigning an in-game ability name. The appeal is the clearly described multi-enemy action, not an assumed damage value or upgrade effect.
4. Peter’s other tendril attacks
The symbiote’s tendrils are compelling because they make Peter’s reach feel unfamiliar. The hands-on report describes tendrils as part of Peter’s combat toolkit, including the nearby-enemy grab, lift, and slam, but the available description is not detailed enough to confidently name every separate tendril ability.
Rather than invent a move name or attach an unsupported effect, this entry recognizes the broader tendril-based style. It ranks highly for visual identity and the sense that Peter’s symbiote powers can alter how he controls space around him.
3. Spider-Arm combat abilities
Peter’s mechanical arms are not just a visual flourish: they form a distinct branch of his abilities, with Spider Shock as a particularly clear example. The arms extend Peter’s reach and make his attacks look engineered and purposeful, setting his mechanical toolkit apart from the symbiote’s raw, organic force.
This entry is a category rather than a single named move, so it is not a claim that every Spider-Arm ability has the same effect. It earns a high spot for giving Peter a recognizable combat identity beyond the symbiote suit.
Rank #3

2. Peter’s symbiote power set
The symbiote moves share a strong visual and combat identity: enveloping Peter, driving him into an attack, launching opponents, or using tendrils to grab and slam. PlayStation’s guide characterizes Peter’s symbiote abilities as emphasizing power and strength; that description fits the forceful feel of moves such as Symbiote Strike and Symbiote Punch.
This is a toolkit-level pick, not one additional named ability. It ranks near the top because the symbiote changes the texture of Peter’s combat, while the specific moves offer different ways to express that power.
1. Symbiote Punch
Symbiote Punch takes the top spot for combining a clear power fantasy with useful follow-up potential. Peter lands a forceful hit, sends an enemy airborne, and leaves them stunned—an emphatic moment that also creates an opening for a combo.
That balance makes it my pick for Peter’s coolest individual ability: it looks and feels powerful, and its stated effect gives the player an obvious reason to use it beyond spectacle. For sheer environmental flair, Wall Smash is a standout; for mechanical identity, Spider Shock is the pick.
Are Peter’s Spider-Arms or symbiote powers better?
They suit different preferences, and the official sources do not establish a universal winner. Spider-Arms give Peter a mechanical, gadget-like combat identity; symbiote abilities emphasize power and strength, with attacks built around rushing, launching, grabbing, and slamming. Choose by the feel you want from a fight rather than an unsupported damage or cooldown comparison.
That contrast fits Insomniac Senior Creative Director Bryan Intihar’s description of the heroes as “acrobatic improvisors,” and the team’s aim to give them new ways to improvise during combat. Intihar shared that design goal in a PlayStation Blog interview.
